Zwift Games [February 2024]

They possibly registered for C race while still a C before getting a promotion, but good old Category Enforcement will allow them to compete in C.

Or they were a B, but due to a drop in their performance in the last 90 days, they are now a C and they haven’t refreshed their zwiftpower profile yet.

Happy to report this issue was finally fixed!

Hey All!

For those that were missing Stage 1 progress, thank you for flagging!!! We have processed the credit for the missing stage 1 and anyone who was previously missing credit, should see it now. I apologize for the delay in getting that process and I thank everyone for their patience!

If you still aren’t seeing credit, please send me a PM and I can take a look

Thanks for getting this fixed!

I watched the elite sprint races on youtube and it was explained that all the bike/wheels would have identical stats to level the playing field. (Though I guess their real world bikes might give different gearing advantages?) Anyway, I was wondering are the rides leveled for the community races, too?

Yes. If you look at the event config on ZwiftHacks it shows standardized performance characteristics, so you can just ride the prettiest bike you have.

OK, no blaming my low level bike/wheels, lol! Thanks for answering me.

Why can’t those in category A or B race the shorter course for stage 3? I just about have enough time to squeeze in 3 little sisters, no way can I do 82km!

Looks like the powerups for C and D got misconfigured for stage 3.
The race description says:
“On this course, you will be awarded one PowerUp only, the Feather, which will be at the top of the first climb”

If this was used early a draft powerup was awarded too, presumably at the top of Titans Grove KOM.

Disappointed that stage 3 was only run on Sat and Sun. Was hoping to fit it in Monday but hadn’t realised it was only on for 2 days. We get 5 days of Glasgow crit now. And looks like stage 3 isn’t on mon-Fri in the make up week either and weekend only again. Surely Zwift could add some weekday slots for stage 3 in the makeup week?!

Seems weird to assume everyone works Monday to Friday, eh?

I’d like the option to ride Stage 3 (&5) during the week too.

For me, midweek is for Zwift, but If I get a couple of hours to ride my bike on the weekend then ideally I’d be outdoors.

I know the bikes are normalized for the Elite races but are they normalized for the community races as well?
Couldn’t find in the Zwift Games Web page

Yes they apparently are. The settings show up on the ZwiftHacks events page.

This Mountain Mash is the last badge I need to fill my achievements (again). I’m disappointed that I cannot register it to knock this one out. I hope that it comes available (soon). People can “category up” to get the Zwift Games Epic badge (and many did), but there is no way for us to touch one the way this event series is set up if our minimum category is B or A.

It hardly seems fair - but then again, it’s not like people developing Zwift are known for well-thought stuff. I’ve used this since 2016 and the theme on this is consistent.

maybe Zwift can Set the E Pen, open to all do it for the short route, for stage 5, just like the D/C group.

@Bath_Salts I was actually just thinking that as I posted that. In fact, I was thinking that this is how it SHOULD be for something called Zwift Games. I never race unless I have something to unlock, and even then, I typically don’t go full effort. I do a lot of other things throughout my day that I really don’t want to burn all of my matches on one event. I usually keep these at the bottom of Zone 4. For such an “inclusive” platform, setting things up like this sure seems odd. There are a lot of my friends who would have loved to obtain these route badges who said they wouldn’t simply because they are “Races”. There is a fair amount of my other friends who absolutely did join Stage 3 who are in the D and C categories with the B or A group to endure through 81km for the Epic badge.

I think “Category Enforcement” is fine for those who are more competitive or trying to make things fair (though I can give many concrete examples of Zwifters who have clearly foul data for whatever reasons make them feel better about their “win”, like buggered BLE or ANT+ information - or this one guy who consistently “wins” sprints yet his cadence data following his “1900W” spikes up to the “win” looks like that of a car engine, somehow 2.4W/kg is 35rpm and 14W/kg is 110rpm, linearly… lol), I think there should also be an “open” category for those who want to treat such “Races” as Tours. Or even better - a pool for those who want to play with their toys and “win”, and then the rest of us can just ride.

The reasons I don’t race on Zwift are many. The reasons I RIDE on Zwift are many, many more.

Pretty sure all these routes will be available either for group rides or free rides or workouts once Zwift Games has finished.

Patience is a virtue.
