Have you found a work around for this?
I also do the same exact thing, use the HR chest strap while my watch charge.
My Zwift rides syncs to Strava which dumped the ride data into Health App. This week though strava has changed their HealthKit sync and has now pulled the ability to dump that info into health so I looking for a workaround too.
