Zwift Academy Tri 2020 FAQ

Looks like all the tri workouts are in seconds on the companion instead of minutes. Is that simply a companion issue. Or should I expect them all the last less than 5 minutes :grinning:. Meaning should wait till they are fixed.

Yes, go into your profile on Zwift and you adjust either 5k or 10k time, same as you can adjust FTP on cycle side.

About to start bike workout 3. 7 minutes. Broken!!!

Hi @Shuji_Sakai,

Thanks for the information, I recently completed one bike and one run workout without a power meter and cadence meter (both have been ordered but are being delayed!). Will I have to redo these workouts with a power meter and cadence meter? Or are these two just required for the races.
Thanks!
Hamish

Could you include instructions on how to access the races in the FAQ,please?

Is there already a first group picked for the selection?
This first group will be able to apply by making a video, I recall?

Just checking… I can’t find anywhere when these first group will be informed. Only that the members will be announced on march the 1st.
Went beast mode every training and race, so really curious if I’m in there or not…

Anton, I got my email on the 25th of January, saying that I was a semi finalist, it included a form that I filled in. It sounds like they will use those forms to determine who will send in those videos. I am sure that I barely made the cut off for the semi finalist, so chances are I won’t be able to give any more updates here. Though, an generic email saying ā€œthanks for participating, but you have not made the teamā€ would be nice.

And on top of that, I just looked up your results for the 2 races and you were/are faster than me.

Dear Rees,

Thanks for replying! I checked my spam folder but unfortunately, nothing in there.
Your idea about the generic mail makes sense. It would be helpful to know why you did not make it to the academy. I know it will always be a dream for most of us, but I like dreaming
If there are more necessary things to check off like being 18 years or older, finishing all workouts, having a certain level on cycling and running on Zwift, I’d like to know it too.
Personally, I’m only paying for my Zwift account in Winter, because I don’t ride indoors for the rest of the year. I was thinking lately: maybe they only pick the candidates from all the Zwift-users that Zwift all year long? Just thinking.

So, maybe next year?!
Good luck as a semi finalist!

I’d imagine after the baseline threshold (ie age and zwift level which is spelled out in the FAQ’s as I recall) the selection process is highy nuanced and between a huge number of applicants and (and I’d imagine majority from a very select number of AG) and then needing to balance, story, success rate, marketability and overall ability (reality) to get to Kona. The difference between being in/out is very slight and or not something one can correllate. Ie last year I made it to the second(?) round (ie after workouts then the initial questionnaire) and submitted a video. Though this year I didn’t make the initial cut (if notifications have gone out) which likely just speaks to the number of talented people that entered the program.
