Workout Refresh [October 2023]

there are many errors that did not exist before.
go 4wk Prudential Ride London (PRL) Prep. week 1, 2, 3, 4. the exercises are alphabetical. what will I do on day 1?
all the training plans you went to custom, are alphabetical. what exercise will i do on day 1???

Fresh explainer from @Eric_Schlange_ZwftIn covering some of the changes Zwift Training Plans: Browsing, Enrolling, Cancelling, and Finishing Your Training Plan | Zwift Insider

Yes, it’s true we overlooked the sorting aspect when creating the .zip file to distribute for users to add to the Custom workouts. Zwift game logically sorts the workouts based on their content, it doesn’t look to the folder than are stored in the disk. This should be improved.

In the meantime the work-around to know their correct order is to look at the workout file contents and search for < subcategory > (Week 1, Week 2, etc.) and < subcategoryIndex > (the sorting within the Week)

What exercise should i do on day 1 etc.
Is it a structured plan?

That’s not the solution

I would argue that Build me up and the 12 week ftp builder are not the same, I’ve done the 12 week ftp builder, had great results, still would want to do some of the workouts after a few years of doing them, zone 2 building up through Tempo, sweet spot, and threshold, , Build me up should really be called burn me out, as no, and I mean no coach would recommend that many high intensity workouts per week, no zone 2, it may work for some people but my guess, it will be a quick fix, as no base has been built into a 3 month programme, no idea what you are thinking about zwift seems to be going backwards with regards to training.
I would encourage anybody who likes a certain plan to copy the workouts on a workout builder, and save them to do independently when you want to do them, of course I understand the problem that many workouts are the same, or at least target the same thing, something needed cleaning up, but really the quality of what is on offer for the price people pay is very poor.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong tag name. It’s categoryIndex.
Inside each file there is a tag around line 8 or 9 named categoryIndex. That indicates the order inside each week.

For example, for that week in the PRL_Prep it’s:

  1. Recoveryride
  2. Mito_4
  3. Vo2climbing1
  4. Endurance Free_Ride
  5. 20minTempow15secsurge
  6. ClimbindSustainedThreshold3
  7. AnaerobicintoSweetSpot

Is there any chance that someone at Zwift will take a look at these zip files and change the naming so that the workouts are in the correct order when they are imported? Your proposed solution is a complete clutz and it shouldn’t need users to be interrogating the contents zip file to get the old plans.

Like I said, it’s a workaround, and not ideal.

Then kindly improve the workaround for your customers

Thanks, but that didn’t answer my question.

I guess your best bet is to go to WhatsOnZwift and search for the workout, they categorize the workout by week and day.

For instance for week 3 of crit crusher:
Zwift workouts: Crit Crusher | What’s on Zwift? (whatsonzwift.com)

I’m not saying you “SHOULD” have to do that, but I think it’s better than opening files and personally editing metadata etc, there’s always a chance a person can mess things up that way.

that’s what I do, and I’ve actually printed them on paper because I don’t trust the zwift team

It doesn’t make any difference. It’s not a solution for me. It must be corrected immediately.

Are we saying the Zwift response is I need to edit the workout files for all legacy plans just to get the order right?

I get the present as collections approach for people that want to pick a workout but Zwift have really dropped getting rid of all but a handful of structured plans. If Zwift wanted to simplify why not add the plans to the plans section and have collections. If I stays as is I’ll be changing training platforms this winter as I want to do a plan not pick my workouts at random.

No, I didn’t mentioned anything about editing workouts. You just need to see the workout content to see the index that indicates the order inside the Week in categoryIndex tag. Until we get a new .zip file with the collections where this is sorted.

Whoopee! Zoon???

How do we see the contents of the workouts/choose between them? I have downloaded the zip, and uploaded the 10-12wk ftp builder folder, but in Zwift (custom workouts) all I see is the workout name and zone charts.

Assuming you are using either a PC or Mac, I when I said to see the file contents, I meant to really open the file on your computer file explorer with a text editor and see its content.

Thank you, yes I am on a PC. I will take a look.
