Where and how to begin again? Been off for years

Hello forum.

Here I am again, after years of looking at my Garmin Tacx Neo Bike Smart collecting dust in the garage :face_in_clouds: . But - now I have to start again !!

Question: I am looking for a joyfull and guided start in this wonderful world of training with cycling in a virtual environment. Are there new AI guide-agents and other “smarts” to help me along with a program and adjust me along the way? How do I meassure myself to find “my heart rate zones” etc. ?

My goal: To get a better physical condition and maybe even loose some weight.

Gear I own:

  • Garmin Tacx Neo Bike Smart, with that Beta 4.5 firmware thing loaded.
  • Apple TV and a big screen
  • Ipad, Apple watch
  • Garmin HRM-Dual chest-strap

Current subscriptions: None, not even Garmin’s Tacx Premium Subscription with videos, I tried them long ago, looked nice - but before subscribing to something again I would like to join something that can also coach me with a little sprinkle of AI if possible.

Thanks Team Zwift users for any help and ideas! :folded_hands:

There are now several third party apps that provide adaptive training programs and integrate with Zwift, such as TrainerRoad, Xert, and JOIN.cc. Of course that raises the costs but Xert offers 30 days free, and you can get a month of JOIN with an affiliate link (this one might work) so that would let you dip a toe in. Those apps will push workouts to Zwift and adjust their suggestions based on your goals and progress. Zwift is also developing adaptive training features but IMO they are not really ready yet and can’t compete with the dedicated training apps.

Also you said joyful so maybe ask yourself if structured workouts are the solution. For me joy lies elsewhere.

Agree. I have been on Zwift for years and never done a “workout”. If I want to go hard I self-motivate or do a race.
