I am looking into whether there is a cassette for my Wahoo Kickr Core that would fit my bike and my sons bike. I have a 2x11 (46-30) shimano with a Shimano 11-34 cassette and have just ordered a mtb for my son with a 1x11 (32 tooth chainring) with a Sunrace 11-42 casette.
Anyone know if I can buy a cassette that would work with both bikes?
Those cassettes are interchangeable. Any 11 speed Shimano cassette (or compatible) will be fine.
The 1x11 setup with a 32 tooth chainring has a very small high gear (32x11) so the concern there is whether that’s a big enough gear based on your kid’s power. If he’s a small child then probably no issues. If he’s a fit teen then it’s probably too small. There are some options for dealing with that so give it a try and report back if he’s spinning out in high gear.
I guess the other thing to mention is that your bike with the 34 tooth small gear probably can’t handle the 42 tooth cog on the other bike, so stick with something smaller than that. You’d have to check the capacity of the rear derailleur to know for sure. But the spacing of the cogs should be fine for both. You can certainly go smaller but not necessarily larger unless it can handle that.
Hi @Anders_Lund, Welcome to the forums!
I’m Fernanda, from Zwift.
I would love to take this chance to help you, and let you know that a good option for your issue is, as @Paul_Southworth shared, to upgrade your Wahoo KICKR CORE with the Click Upgrade Kit. Even though this is sold with an included freehub body that only fits the Zwift Hub, you can remove the free hub body from the Zwift Cog to enjoy this feature.
I would like to share with you here some information on how to do it, and a video that we create to help our members with this process.
With the Zwift Cog, you wouldn’t need to worry about changing between your son’s bike and your bike, both can be mounted in the Cog.
Thanks for the input. The Zwift hub sounds like an interesting idea.
How does it handle different hub widths because my gravel has a 142mm rear hub and my sons bike has a QR hub which I believe is 135mm. Is that just the adapters that come with the wahoo kickr core?
And I use Apple TV and a Garmin Hear rate? Are there any issues with the number of bluetooth connection when I also add the zwift clickr?
Thank you for your interest in the Zwift Cog! I couldn’t miss the chance to answer your questions:
Your Wahoo KICKR CORE has an axle adapter compatible with 142/148 mm and a quick-release adapter compatible with 130/135mm, you just need to check the adapter you will need depending on your measurements before mounting your bikes, check compatibility here, this does not impact in the Zwift Cog only in the adapters you will use.
The Apple TV allows a maximum of 3 different BLE devices (including the Apple TV’s remote) to be paired at once. In this case, since you will need to pair more than two BLE devices, you will need to use the Zwift Companion app as a bridge, to allow multiple connections.
