Just a quick note to say thanks for a good product for cycling and running but it would be great if we could row the water in Zwift with our Concept2.
There was a time when rowing was two weeks from going live.
I think there are even some start pen “arches” in the water near Sequoia Circle.
No longer on the radar.
Rowing was something Zwift was experimenting with but it didn’t see the light of day, aside from a video posted on social media.
I doubt it will ever be a reality.
People have done methods like the previous post suggested, but proper rowing could be interesting.
I think Zwift is missing the boat here. Can you imagine what Zwift could do if they offered rowing? How about full or half triathlons with rowing replacing the swimming portion. Start off with the rowiing, switch to the bike and then finish on the treadmill. And how hard can it be to create a 2000 m course in one of their waterscapes? They could even put the course in the Thames or the Seine. They already have the water, it shouldn’t be any harder than adding a new road.
It would have been nice but it’s obviously been thrown out.
Probably easier than adding a new road because there are no debates over “too hilly or too flat”.
If you watch the recent interview with Eric Min (by DCR) then Eric makes it pretty clear that they’re focusing on cycling for now.
Most likely, we will never see anything related to Rowing/Paddling in Zwift -there are already several applications doing a good job targeting those ultra niche markets (even Zwift running is kind of dead -probably, they didn’t make a penny with all those development hours…) I would rather see a laser focus development on cycling, and I’ll take care the rest of sports with different applications…
