Wahoo Kickr core 2 wattage to low

With my kickr core 2 i’am not hitting my wattages anymore. I reported it and i get a new kickr core 2 my question is can you advise me with the ride institutions. I will prevent lower wattages. Usually i ride 300 watt in the advanced group and now with pain 240 W.

Must i update the newest firmware?, factory spindown ? cycle in BT or wifi? trainer difficulty high?

The cog in position 1 or other? please give me some advise to prevent problems.

What trainer did you have before the core v2? Could it be that you are now having more accurate power readings and the 300 watts was inflated from a poor power source?

If you search the forum you will find some comments about that trainer. I don’t know whether the concerns are valid or not. There have been some suggestions that it gets better with some time, but most of the people reporting the problem are not comparing it to another power meter which would help clarify whether the trainer is significantly incorrect. If you talk to Wahoo support about it, it would be helpful to have that comparison data.

When you say that you are not hitting your wattages anymore, what are you comparing it to? If it’s another good quality direct drive trainer, what is it?

Core 1 is known for inflating watts but not by 20-25%. Maybe you just had a particularly out of spec one. Only way to know for sure is to compare against a quality PM.

Great, dual record a single activity using both the power meter and the trainer. Show the results to Wahoo support if they are very different.

If you contact Wahoo support, they will probably tell you to install latest firmware. A factory spindown might be something they recommend. If you’re using WiFi now then I would try it with Bluetooth but if you are not getting disconnected from the trainer then it probably does not matter. Trainer Difficulty does not matter.

Position of the Cog should always be to obtain the best chain line for quiet operation. If it’s wrong then you can lose a few watts but I doubt it would cause you to lose as many watts as you described.

I’ve had a KICKR Core 2 for 9 months along with Favero Assioma pedals. In Zwift races, the Core 2 consistently reads about 4.5% lower than the Assiomas, which is a noticeable difference. In a worst-case scenario, the Assiomas read 1% high and the Core 2 reads a maximum of 2.5% low—which would be a 3.5% gap. Drivetrain losses shouldn’t really be a factor here, as far as I know, because Wahoo accounts for those. Overall, it’s a reliable device, though I wish it were a bit more accurate. From what I’ve read, the original Core 1 tended to read about 4.5% high instead, but I can’t say for sure since I had a Zwift Hub before this.

Not yet, because I thought that was normal for the Core 2. I’m going to give that a try now. I dual-recorded my last 3 races.

It seems reasonable to ask Wahoo if the difference is expected or not, and explain why. It also seems reasonable to expect that the V2 is a straight-up replacement for the V1. AFAIK they have not said you should expect a radically different result. I’d love to hear their explanation or if they think this is an expected outcome.

I’m curious why you would say that. How does Wahoo know what your drivetrain losses are?

Of course they don’t know my exact drivetrain losses, but as far as I know, they add a fixed value to account for them. Mind you, that’s just hearsay, I haven’t verified it myself.

I’m pretty sure that this is incorrect. I’ve never heard of this before.
