Mac M4 gets the High profile based upon my activity today using the new MacBook Pro w/M4pro chip. Frame rate was locked to 60 fps by my 55" Samsung 4k TV.
@Simone_Chiaretta_BZR @T_Ali1 @Teddy @Eric_Oshlo
We pushed a change in Game 1.78 to update the profile for M4-equipped Macs so you should see this change once your game client has been updated.
Any word on update plans for other M4-based hardware? Still getting Basic and 30fps on iPad.
This is the bit where the Zwift employees ignore your messageā¦ā¦ā¦
Change {from} what {to} what?
From medium to high
@Dan_Kothlow the graphics profile has been increased from Medium to High as @Teddy_Svoronos mentioned.
Any idea when IPad Pro M4ās will receive the Ultra graphics update which was mentioned on another thread? It this is no longer happening it would be good to know that the graphics and frame rate will stay as is. Thanks
Just connected a 4K TV to a Mac Mini M4, and enjoyed the upgrade experience compared to a 1080P TV with Apple TV. Zwift gives me High profile, and I can run at 4K resolution. I noticed shadows on the riders, a headlight from the Tron bike, jaggies disappeared almost entirely, more texture subtleties, so yeah, more realistic looking.
Iām getting a High profile running Zwift version 1.78 on a MacBook Pro M4 Max which is disappointing given its 40 video cores and 48 GB of RAM. Will there be any additional profiles defined by Zwift given the breadth of the M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max range?
Looking at the performance results of the M4, I can imagine that an M4 Pro and an M4 Max should run with Ultra profile.
If I look at the performance results of an M4 Pro and it runs an average of 114 FPS at High + 2160 4K Zwift, then there is a high probability that the M4 Pro will get the Ultra profile? What do you think? I am thinking of replacing my old MBP 2019 with an M4 MBP with M4 Pro.
@AlanZHQ please confirm this to me.
I would not make any purchasing decisions based on what should be possible on Zwift, or even what Zwift says it will do in the future. They are pretty indifferent to requests for graphic upgrades on macs and, worse, are completely non communicative about it.
Itās a great chip, but get it for other reasons.
Iām a Watopian. I would make a purchase decision based on a Zwift graphic profile.
The normal M4 would be enough for my work. But if I could get an Ultra 4k profile with an M4 Pro, that would be awesome.
Even on my M2 I had already clouds of dust rendered on High profile almost like if thatās Ultra. All the rider shades are there too. Is there any other really noticeable difference between High on M2 or M4 and Ultra? From what I can see Ultra renders just a few more bushes on the sides of the roadā¦
My M4 Pro is locked by the TV at 60Fps and runs absolutely with no drops even in crowded races. M2 sometimes drops the frame rate.
My understanding is that the shadow and texture resolutions are shared between Medium and High. Ultra gets more. But personally I donāt notice. My eyes are not tuned for that sort of thing but a real gamer might be able to tell. Zwift is the only game for me and most of the time I use a system that gets Ultra profile (PC with GTX 970) but occasionally a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro. Plus I run 1440p.
Unfortunately youād be making it based on the possibility of a profile. Zwift as a company seems to want to treat all Macs the same and all iPads the same, which puts those of us with high end models left with a lot of unrealized potential.
Iām making the point that the difference between High and Ultra on M4 Pro end even M2 is negligible. M4 is just much smoother. Do you need that extra cacti on the side of the road in Tempus Fugit? I can already see and enjoy the Road Runner racing me but I donāt really care about extra rocks and trees on the sides.
I run both in 4k.

@Martin_Huchel Iāll look into this with our engineering team for you!
