I was never on the podium in C grade. Now I am stuck in A grade! Every race I flog myself to average anything from 3.6 to 4.0w/kg but at 59kg, this is simply not enough watts to go as fast as bigger people with better power to frontal areas. I hear Zwift are trying a new system but every race I enter has everything greyed out except A. Other than a roll around, this is pointless. How do I find a race where people are about my standard?
If you are interested in team racing, I suggest trying the 5v5 club ladder which uses zwiftracing.app categories, and each team can have a range of three of those categories. Since the categories are based more on results than on power, a rider with relatively poor results will be categorized more reasonably.
You can also enter mass start events that are either everyone in a single category or multiple categories with all categories visible. That way even if you can’t hang with the leaders you still have a better chance of finding someone to race with. I operate one of those races which is at 18:10 UTC every Wednesday. If you can share the time of day and timezone that you typically want to race I might be able to find other options for you.
You may simply be having a bottom-of-category experience but I wasn’t able to find your ZwiftPower profile so it’s hard to say. That experience exists in every category, but A is the worst since the field sizes are the smallest and there’s no meaningful upper limit to power since it’s the top category.
