Hi,
I’ve gotten hold of a simpler model of a gaming PC and I’m wondering how it would work with Zwift. How much of a difference can I expect compared to my Apple TV 4K?
The specifications of the PC are as follows:
Intel Core i5 9th gen “Coffee Lake”
GeForce RTX 2060 6GB
16GB RAM
The 4K Apple TV will run Zwift in 1080p with the Basic graphics profile and no more than 30FPS
That PC should run Zwift pretty well and will get the Ultra graphics profile which is more detailed. It is capable of running Zwift in 4K, though 1440p might be a better choice for that hardware - you can try both and see what you think. If you upload log files to zwiftalizer.com it will show the frame rates you are getting (which will also depend on the capabilities of the display you are using). Whether you notice or care about the difference between the PC and Apple TV also depends on you.
There are some screen shot comparisons in this Zwift Insider article, as well as some suggested Nvidia settings that you should make:
You can run 4k with ultra graphics on an i3 12th gen and 1060 with 8gb ram so you have more than enough, you can use the search function on Zwiftalizer website to see what others are getting with that set up.
Total overkill I’m still using a 10 year old PC with like a 7th gen i3 and 10 year old graphics card, GTX750Ti and it runs Zwift in 1080p no real problems I cannot live with.
Same here! Old Dell cast off office PC (i5? 16gb recycled ram) with a 4gb GPU from the dark ages, hooked up to a 42 inch plasma screen telly (£10 on eBay due to a spelling error, and doubles up as space heater for the shed). Little longer to log in to Zwift, but runs smooth and sweet for all the hours I do.
