Set default virtual gear for workouts/free ride

This is absolutely necessary. Even at a moderate pace, pedalling again after ERG is being disabled automatically causes you to spin almost freely. You then realise it’s because the default gear was set to 8 and move it higher until ERG engages again. I thought that having the default as 12 made sense and would fit most, as that’s the middle of the range. I’d be happy to see it back at 12 or to make this configurable in settings.

I think the best solution is to enable virtual gear shifting during workout “freeride” segments. As currently using the zwift click to change gears just changes the bias for the whole workout (and doesnt change the resistance of the freeride at all).

Apparently I’m not the only one who has no resistance at all in free rides. Coasting for ever

Everytime I get to a max effort free ride section of a workout it defaults my virtual gear to 8 and I’m having to back off and change gears … this is really messing with what I’m trying to achieve. As mentioned above there needs to be a way to set a default VG in settings, or it just remembers your last gear, or a way to set the VG for each free ride section in a workout like you can for cadence, power etc.

Ok I’ll dig up this old topic since this is still not ‘fixed’.
On 6 week ‘FTP Builder’ program there is a “Strenght” workout where you have to switch from freeride to ERG OFF several times and every time gear go back to default 8. It’s super annoing when you have to waste your time for gearing up Everytime when you ERG OFF.

I think solution is really easy.
Even on ERG ON user should be able to switch gears, just without any effect (because of EGR) and when ERG is OFF resistance will adjust to currently selected gear.
