Right now it seems the best you can achieve is a messy glob of riders. It rarely feels like all riders in a small group are putting in equal share of the work out front. Better paceline dynamics would improve that.
And if doing so, an option of either “doing your turn” at the front, or an option of “dropping back” through the cycle of riders.
