Races for August 2026

Hey everyone.

August sees the launch of our Makuri Madness programme. This will feature 4 brand new route in (surprisingly) Makuri Islands.

I am also introducing women’s only racing into our ZRacing programme, with two races daily at 1630 and 1730 UTC (1730/1830 BST, 1830/1930 CEST, 1230/1330 EST). I appreciate that there are women outside of the UK/Europe that would like to see slots in their time zones, however due to attendance volumes, these will not initially be available subject to review.

ZRacing will give 1,000 XP for 1 stage completion, a further 500 XP for the second, then 300, 200.

Our Racing Clubs will see all races taking place in Makuri with the odd new route thrown in (of the 4 new ones).

Event’s start from 3pm UTC on August 10th.

New routes but using existing roads, or any new roads?

Existing roads.

Nice to have new routes in Makuri. You need to adjust the table dates in the shared images for Crit Club and Epic, they are both listed in July. The dates on the Zwift events page is correct though.

Yeah I heard :joy: Pretend they start on August 10th. I’m notmally really good at adjusting the dates as soon as I start working on the routes!

New candidate for most absurd route name since BRAEk-fast Crits and Grits (which is a great route, I just can’t say the name)

I like the BRAEk-fast Crits and Grits route also.

I thank you

So 1st race tomorow and in the time that suits it recommends to go into category 160-270. If I race in the next slot after it recommends the 210 to 330 range. I read else where that’s to give balanced race options to people depending on where the are in the range. If my racing score stays within the same ranges do I need to keep racing in the 160-270 range over the 4 weeks to have a league placing? What happens if the time slots for 160-270 does suit and I do the 210 -330 range? Or in by some miracle my score goes up and I can only go into the 210-330 range? How does the league work?

The league is filterable by your current racing score.

The races alternate between range 1 and range 2 hourly to give you a chance to race closer to the top of the category.

You can alternate between the range if you want to do so.

Hi James. The alternating is clear I’m trying to understand how GC works if alternating? Is it one GC with all categories in one? And in the race are there sprint points during the race?

Currently stage 1 is bugged. I finshed 16 only to find when crossing line in 33rd place. Wasn’t only myself that had this issue. Route was longer for some people and not others.

There are no sprint points during the race.

There is a global GC which also allows you to filter based on your Racing Score here: The at Home Cycling & Running Virtual Training App

Just noticed who is top of the standings… may need to fix that

Having a route and race series named “Makuri Madness” had me thinking the route for the first race was changed due to the glitch while I was sitting in the pens.

Please can you advise whether Makuri Madness races are intended for gravel bikes or for road bikes? Also, does wheel choice change gravel bike performance as it does road bikes?
