when is the update expected?
In v1.83.
Zwift insider has a list of previous game updates: Game Updates | Zwift Insider
Iām pretty sure Iām seeing some higher quality textures for the rider kit, possibly bike and wheels, on my tablet now for a few days, is that so? Or am I just imagining thingsā¦
Yes Tomaz, your device has used the higher quality textures. In v1.82 we started slowly rolling out to a limited set of devices while monitoring.
Android users please note these changes in this weekās phased release of game version 1.83.
A recent update (currently v1.84) seems to have broken things on my 4GB RAM Samsung Galaxy Tab A& (model # SM-T500).
Earlier yesterday, it worked fine and I completed a ride, but I wanted to do another,; Zwift came up, I started a ride, rode for a minute or so, and then the graphics went all jaggy, and it crashed unceremoniously to the desktop. Restarted the app, and on initiating a ride, it crashed again, in the same way. Rebooted the tablet, and got the same result. Itās not the newest, fanciest tablet, but its worked fine for four years now. Not looking forward to needing to replace it, if something in Zwift has changed that makes it obsolete.
I have Zwift logs available, would seeing those help debug/fix the issue?
Thanks Jeff, I just grabbed your logs.
I cannot see any such settings in the Zwift app on my Galaxy Tab A7 device. Not under āAudio and Videoā, which would make the most sensible location.
I am using the latest v1.84 release, system is fully updated.
This appeared to work, at least the one time Iāve tried it (today). Will try again tomorrow, first with out clearing, then, if things go boom, Iāll clear it and try again. Hopefully, your software folks can fix this problem. Clearing cache manually shouldnāt be necessary.
But itās good to be able to ride again! Thanks.
Have you had the same issue since Jeff?
If I remember to completely shut down the Zwift app between rides (even rides on the same session), and then clear its cache, then itās fine. Today, I tried clearing the cache while the app was running (and before I started a ride), and it crashed to the desktop. Cleared the cache, at that point, and it was fine again.
So I still have the problem, if thatās what youāre asking.
Iāll also note that I have experienced problems with the Zwift Companion app, which I run on a separate Google Pixel 3. Sometimes it loses the ability to give out 5 Ride-ons using the ātap-on-my-avatarā feature. Happened today, in fact. It didnāt come back until I restarted the device totally; i.e., just stopping the app and restarting it doesnāt fix the problem.
Looked for an update on the Zwift app, and I see now that version 1.85 (141681) has landed on my Samsung Galaxy tablet, and Iāve installed it. I hope to be able to test it tomorrow. I donāt see an update for the Companion app. I am currently running version 3.67.0 (1988).
Im sorry to hear that. I have made a change for your specific account as a test. Can you clear your cache one more time, and then play as normal. Id like to see if the issue changes for you.
Thanks
Diarmaid
Iām continuing to have issues with my tablet. Every few launches itāll freeze before terminating the app back to the desktop.
Lemme check your logs and device type.
Ive added better telemetry and logging for these types of issues. I have also made a change for your device Stuart.
Cheers. Iāll keep you posted.
This seems to be fixed. I no longer have to restart my tablet and clear the Zwift app cache before doing a ride. Thanks for that.
I still have occasional problems with the Companion app (which I run on an old Pixel 3a, using Android 12). It will occasionally stop tracking my ride; just sits there, not moving, and sending Ride Ons doesnāt do anything. I usually just restart the phone, and bring up the Companion again. My ride continues fine on my tablet, and it saves fine, so the Companion problem is relatively minor, though still annoying.
Thanks Jeff. Well take a look at zc to game connection metrics
Likewise my tablet has not been an issue lately
Same here.. terrible graphic quality in my Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra⦠the first version of a ipad mini runs in a better quality than the last version of the flagship android tablet.
