Petition to remove sticky draft

Please for the love of all things natural, remove the sticky draft or make it optional.

I would like to start a petition for signature by other frustrated riders, but not sure if we can do that here. Thinking maybe change_dot_org (but seems kind of less important than changing the world…)

There are reasons for the sticky draft, but it currently doesn’t really work given how aggressive it is — and the lack of any visual cues, and the ability to steer.

Given a binary option, remove it. But maybe just making it a little less strong would be enough to make it bearable.

I have a prediction, if Zwift gets rid of draft lock you will all complain that it is impossible to draft and you fly off the front of every pack and then ask for some sort of sticky draft logic to be introduced.

Making it an option would probably be best. Some days I’d like to draft, I enable sticky, and I can draft. Other days, I’d like to ride alone and just hammer, I disable, no worries about sticky draft.

You can solve this by riding a TT bike.

True that.

TT BIKE.

Yeah, but that’s what happens already. On the rare occassions I find myself at the front of pack I will quite often roll off the front without any effort. The pack is pushing 3.5w/kg and I’m doing 2w/kg to avoid being on the front but somehow Zwift pushes me out in front of everyone else. Then the wind hits and I get blown back to the rear of the pack again.

There is absolutely nothing natural about how the draft works in Zwift.

This is exactly it. Most everything else in Zwift feels relatively natural, except the sticky draft.

Hitting a wall, when stop pedaling for a second is realistic at the same level, as sticky draft.

Another vote for this. The Zwift draft effect is truly bizarre. You either get “stuck” or you get “slingshotted” past other riders. Neither is “normal” or reflectt he real world at all. Why can’t we have just normal physics based drafting that you get in the real world?!

The “slingshot” effect is particularly noticeable if you are on a TT bike and there is something in your draft. When you overtake another rider (while on your TT bike) you continue as normal (no draft effect) but the rider that was previously drafting you suddenly “slingshots” past at twice your speed. its aburd.

The sticky draft lately seems unreal, When i started Zwift in 2019 the gaming was quite good , lately the sticky draft is really annoying especially when sweeping, i had a guy yesterday riding at 0.8wkg and had to go over 3.5wkg to blast past him as i was stuck behind even over 2 wkg , This is far from IRL so can it be removed or reduced to what it used to be a few years ago as it was way better then
