Check out ECRO, they offer a race license for $7.99 a year or something similar and i believe they have a verification process.
Pay to verify what?
Weight, hardware,gender, height etc?
I think, instead of spending all the time, effort and money trying to design a system that prevents cheating, they should focus on catching the cheaters who are cheating.
Most preventative efforts will be applied people who aren’t cheating.

Instead, look at kom, segments, winners and performances above a certain threshold hold and require those individuals to prove that their power is accurate.

Quite true. If someone does repeat ADZ laps of 40min in a single session and has hardly any activity history and no HR - that would be a flag to me.
Or if someone has dangerously low weight and also doing very fast times.
You might not catch out everyone but at least the obvious ones.
I think you’ve missed the point.
People provide enough info on the license to eliminate 95% of historic cheating. People who don’t are not welcome in the top cat for the series.
If someone does this then goes on to produce questionable numbers they are asked for some real world verification / comparison or to do a deeper verification.
The deterrence probably does as much but it’s effectively problem solved and a better experience.

I can’t argue with you.
I have previously argued for restrictions on racing.
My preference was not to increase an entry fee but instead, require increased public verification of vital statistics and equipment and prior performance.
I think it is ridiculous to race someone who is a blank slat with no reviewable history.
Reviewing data is the first step, restricting participation would be a desirable 2nd step.
I can’t say I have the whole thing sorted but I would be willing to have my account scrutinized of it meant the system was looking for cheaters.
I have nothing to hide.

I did a couple of ecro races and can only recommend. Without the monsters races are much more dynamic and fun. After quite a while I am looking forward to doing a zwift race.
A racing is already behind closed doors. Invitationals, elite levels and organizations like ecro.
Legit A riders hardly do any community racing, bar training or out of habit.
