Not getting streak XP

I did an outdoor ride followed by an indoor Zwift this week, followed by further indoor and outdoor rides. I wasn’t awarded the 500xp bonus for continuing my streak (the bigger jump is 275xp from completing Hilltop Hustle in a workout)

Also https://us-or-rly101.zwift.com/api/profiles/me isn’t showing an updated streak for my profile - still showing 71 where it should be 72 and I didn’t get the week streak splash screen in game this week either, despite multiple indoor rides along with outdoor rides this week

Just reported the same problem. Please update with anything you learn, and I’ll do the same.

I had to email support, they added on the XP but seemed to miss the point that this seems to be a bug when doing an outside ride first in the week. This week I did an indoor ride first (actually haven’t been outside yet this week) and the 500XP was added straight away correctly.

Got my response from support, wherein they acknowledged that external activities currently earn 5XP/km and extend streaks, but do not grant streak bonuses. I was told that it is an issue that will be addressed in an unspecified future update.

So at least it’s a known bug and in the backlog. Until it’s fixed, if you want your streak bonus XP, your first ride of the week must be a Zwift ride.

Thank you for posting back the response from Zwift.
I am curious why Zwift has not posted that themselves, since they specifically mentioned outdoor rides continue your ride streak, and continuing your ride streak has an XP bonus.

Granted, I’m generally against outdoor rides counting for Zwift XP. But this is something worth mentioning.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your screenshots. I understand it can be not very clear when the bonus streak XP isn’t showing up as expected.

At the moment, external activities earn 5 XP per kilometer and do extend your streaks, but they don’t grant the bonus streak XP. This is a known bug that’s already on our backlog for a future update (although we don’t have a specific timeline yet). Until we have a fix in place, if you’d like to receive your streak bonus XP, please make sure your first ride of the week is an Indoor activity .

The thing is, it’s hard to tell if you didn’t get the bonus XP, I don’t ‘think’ I got it last week when I did an outdoor ride first, but I’m not sure because there’s nothing in the Zwift interface that shows your exact XP, and the XP bar will naturally move due to your outdoor ride. My XP went up after my first ride of the week because I got an extra set of XP for the outdoor ride, but did I get the 500 bonus XP? Not sure.

I think you mean “nothing in the Zwift Companion interface”. Because you can see your exact XP in the settings in-game.

Only after starting a ride, though, unless I’m mistaken.
Which still is one of the most mind boggling decisions that Zwift has made.
You can see the actual number of drops in many places, but not your actual number of XP.

Yes, although you can “Just Watch” and don’t need anything paired. But I agree it’s pretty strange and total XP should be more easily viewable, e.g. in Companion.

That’s incredibly unhelpful. @shooj is this an issue that will be bulk-fixed later or do we need to make sure hundreds of people contact support every time they ride outside earlier in the week than they do a Zwift ride?

An easy solution would be to grant the zwift bonus on your first zwift ride of the week. Easy to implement and to explain. I don’t expect to get a zwift bonus when not using zwift.

What would be helpful is for someone from Zwift to actually tell us what the intended behaviour should be, people have been asking for over a month with no answers.

I would presume the intended behavior would be:

  1. Outdoor rides give 5xp per km and keep your weekly streak alive.
  2. Your first indoor ride of the week should give you the 500XP bonus.

So… If you only ride outdoors in any given week you would not get the 500XP bonus for that week. But if you ride outdoors first, then indoors, you still get the 500XP on your first indoor ride.

That’s how it should work but the in-game streak screen increments your streak number, grants the bonus XP, and sets a flag that keeps the streak screen from popping up until the next week. The new system increments your week streak, and sets whatever flag that keeps the in-game streak screen from coming up. As such, no XP until you contact support or until it’s fixed by ZHQ.

Yeah, I “think” that’s what happened to me last week, but it’s hard to go back and look at the XP numbers for me to confirm that. I’ll look more closely next week.

So you thought wrong. Yes it’s a game, but it should work as promoted..
