New racing score X the old cat. systemr

Hi All,
recently i had a C race (september) and my W/kg didnt change nor the category (C).
Today i just did the Tour of Watopia stage 1 and relatively consistant to what i´ve done in the last races (3.1 W/kg). I just saw that i was upgrade to Cat. B
the thing is that i dont really understand why. i recently did a FTP ramp test estimating a FTP of 270 but my zFTP shows as 231W.
I know that now there is a new racing score (mine 479) based on racing nrs and results. Is Zwift now considering the input FTP for the “old categories”? if i understood correctly the zFTP is an estimation based on the latest 90 days power curve and i thought that would account for the Category enforcement…
if im still at 3.1 W/kg i just dont understand the upgrade…
thanks for any insight

Category enforcement could upgrade you from either your zMAP or your zFTP, so it’s possible you got an upgrade in CE category from a zMAP upgrade, but you’d have to look on your profile to see what that is and whether it’s in the bounds of the B cat or not.

The ramp test might have given you a much more accurate zMAP than you’ve had before (I find the ramp test tends to push out my best 5min power personally), so I would say it’s possible you got upgraded due to zMAP.

6min to 20mi power PR altering your power curve. Congrats!

Do you know if Zwift differentiate FTP from zFTP? In my latest ramp test my FTP was 270W. zFTP shows 231W.
The same for the MAP, measured 360W but zMAP is different…

Thanks,
So Zwift uses a calculation based on thr 5 min as well? I thought it was the 20 min only.
Looking to my 5 min it would then fit in the 3,3 W/kg cat B.
However the 20 min alone still cat C.
Anyways i think this might be irrelevant now with the new racing score right?
Thanks

Yes, FTP and zFTP are definitely not the same thing. FTP is the traditional calculation, based on an FTP test. zFTP uses several points of the power curve and really should called something that doesn’t have “FTP” in its name.

zFTP is more a critical power reading, this place did tell zwift it would cause confusion naming it zftp as people will think of it as ftp, but they still went and did it

I always thought that zFTP was your FTP according to the last 90 days and FTP your all time high FTP acchieved on Zwift.

zFTP is CP.

You always thought wrong, Peter.

And calculating CP without good data points = garbage.

Garbage in => garbage out.

And the proof is to see how many people have huge W’ values … I´m talking 30-40 kJ. It´s a great sign that calculated CP is bellow it´s “real” value.

Well thats not something new :joy:

Excuse my ignorance. But what is CP ? And what does it represent ?

Critical Power.

Thanks, but Zwift uses the 90 days values for that right ?

Yeap, 90 day window.

i agree. Good data points is essencial.
for me, as a learning cycling nerd, i find very interesting the concept of critical power and W`. i think my data from races is one thing and the ones from regular rides will give very different results. When i look to FTP, there is no way that i can hold it for a full hour. The critical power, yes. the one i got as a result fits with i can do in very long rides 200km for ex. i think the concept of W´ will be more applied in races right? so you can use it wisely in order to know when to push and how much it will take to recharge the battery.

Is there a new update on the ZRS regarding where to see the places by categories (like in zwifpower for ex, by age, weight , etc?)?
i still see the “old” racing score in zwiftpower and today i even got some points (surprisingly), however, when i look to the race results in the companion app, my ZRS went down…
im just wondering where is the place to go to see reliable information of my score… …_(improving?decreasing? …)
thanks

There isn’t such a place at the moment. But you’re by no means the first to ask, and Zwift have told us they’re planning to provide more information on this in the future.
