It would have impacted me as well, since I rode up AdZ on my MTB, and then downhill on my BMX, so I might not have had the drops for the BMX when I hit the other requirements, but no system is going to make everyone happy.
I have a very mixed feelings about this one.
There are Zwift rules and there is a reality.
The reality is such, that some families, just donāt have the budget to have separate accounts for each.
Example: family with 4-5 kids, even just a couple without the kids. They would like to have separate accounts, its very comfortable for everyone, but they canāt afford it. There are a lot of topics about those cases.
So, with the new bike upgrades, surely those people ride more under one account and upgrades faster.
And with a global changes in economy, I have a strong feeling, that more and more people will take the path to cut their budgets as much as possible.
After all, the whole cycling sport is for those people that can really afford it financially and by their free time, even if it is the budget bike from Walmart. Most of the people cannot afford even the budget oneāsā¦, and we speak here also about additional expenses of trainers, cycling smart gadgets, shoes and hell know what elseā¦
In general, Zwift is made for financially established people, with a very specific way of life, that allows them to ride in their free time. The pro cyclists in Zwift, probably the minorityā¦
I know quite a few families, which would want to be on zwift, but as you said , itās not in the budget. And unfortunately zwift no longer offers free accounts to children.
So they all venture off to My Woosh instead.
But if they could, they rather would be on zwift.
Paying for one or even 2 accounts
I also know one that went that way, all extremely strong riders (father and kids) - the kids are a bit older. But not for lack of affordability, but because of the cheating (such as bots, etc). Zwift has many good things, but you canāt argue with him on that.
They are also good at racing bikes in real life (with the results to prove it).
It would be entirely possible for people who are sharing for economic reasons to simply ride different frames for different users and avoid āoops we accidentally upgraded our bike faster, our badā situations.
You know what else is entirely possible? Zwift could FINALLY give users an option for a family account, itās only been a major request for the past 7 or 8 yearsā¦
I wouldnāt object to that either. (Although I donāt think it will happen.) Iām just saying that economics is not forcing anyone into upgrading bikes at faster rates. If they stay on the same frame with each user with the intention of upgrading a nice bike/getting the halo faster, their economic situation is just an excuse.
Peloton subscription is $45 a month by the way
Peloton All-Access Membership:
Price: $44 per month.
What it includes: Unlimited access to all classes on the Peloton equipment (Bike, Bike+, Tread, Row) and the Peloton app.
Household access: Allows up to 20 user profiles for the whole household.
Required for: Peloton equipment.
The single use less expensive membership is $12.99 per month
That would be upwards of $399 per month on Zwift
Right but what are people expecting the Zwift family plan to costā¦
If I had more than 2 people wanting to use it then $44 sounds fair.
You donāt get the full features of a Bike+ from a subscription under $44 as well by the way. No live classes or on demand classes being the biggest gap.
The equivalent for Zwift of a $12/$24 would be that you get free ride & pace partners but not access to events or workouts. ???
Anyway. Zwift is pretty cheap for what it provides and I would be not be shocked if it goes up in price or cracks down on account sharing.
Can you pay Peloton a little more per month to not have those hyped up people shouting at you the whole time?
No, but you can set up a bot to ride the class. Check out YouTube for some good names to use.
George Jetson had machines that would do the working out for him too.
But then again the Jetsons was dystopian fiction.
The hacks are still happening on road to sky.
Names redacted.
One rider has a week of 964km so far with over 64km/h average speed. Thatās better than TDF level. And itās because he teleports to his sonsā account which is parked at top of the mountain.
do they have to sit there and watch it the whole time to know when to teleport back to the top? Seems like a very boring way to spend your time.
You have to keep your account active also, or it will go into sleep mode after a few minutes and you cant teleport anymore
Well sure must be better than watching a submarine race
