New Halo Bikes, New Drop Shop Bikes [March 2025]

Just wondering. How far can race organizers filter on bikes/frames allowed in their races ?
Is it possible to only ban the 4 new Halo Bikes for instance ?

I have been riding more than 15 hours per week in the last month, but with spring starting in Europe, most of that was outside

Not sure they can at all; however they should have access to neutralized equipment ā€˜checkbox’ now.

But I agree, ā€œdisablingā€ upgrades for races should genuinely be a feature for races. I’m all for neutral equipment on some series, and neutralized entirely, it’s nice to see some folks on random bikes in general.

The ongoing issue continues to also come down to UX/UI.
Nothing IN-GAME says whether a race is using neutralized anything etc. etc.

So that needs to be fixed, something needs to be very clear in the main menu of the game that a ride or race is using neutral equipment.

Companion at least shows rides with forced bikes what that is… but I’m pretty sure that isn’t actually in-game.

All of this still though goes back to my complaint when all of this was announced… this is going to ā€œruinā€ Zwift. (not actually, but it’s going to make a mess out of everything, and it continues to prove my assumption was accurate).

The halo bikes, cool, they’re a fun goal.
Upgrades… no.

I would much rather be unlocking paint colors etc. than what we got. (and pretty sure I said that back during the announcement last fall as well.)

But not if they are 20s faster than the fastest aero frame on a used a lot route like RGV.

Oh are they? I haven’t looked at the numbers for them yet they seem like such a far stretch goal still even to me.

I don’t even have a single bike at level 5 yet…

I have a handful in the 1-3 range, but that’s about it.
Which I feel like says a lot about the extent of things coming from someone who averages 15 hours a week… which, many would consider ā€œa very high amountā€

Got my sparky white socks though! that’s fun.

Haha, and that is something I really dont like. Its hard or even impossible to please everyone I guess.

I saw someone with those several weeks ago.
Probably used a bot to get them, since it was a while back.

Has anyone tested it? Is it correct?

YOu can neutralize bike upgrades or you can set a compulsory bike. That’s about it

I just got level 3.
Now the next level is 266 miles away.
That will be a project for next Fall

We cleaned up the MTB trails and weather is getting good.

For the SL8?

I think level 5 for that is 440km as I’m about 100km away from getting level 5 in the SL8 Tarmac.

For the Aethos I’m about 2500m away from level 5. I’ve just been doing crazy climbing rides with 1300-2200m+. It has taken me just over a week to get this far with the Aethos. But I also do outdoor weekend rides that are quite big so I have to draw the line somewhere - I get tired. Last Saturday was a no Zwift day.

I’m also very close to getting those socks, should have them today.

Level 2 for the SL8 is a total of 460km. 200 for 1, 260 for 2.

I rode with Yumi today, and there was some twerp who had set his FTP very low so he was ā€œsprintingā€ all the time.

Is there any benefit to doing that? More drops or similar?

Certainly gives the fire socks a workout.

Not that I’m aware of. Just means his wheel was constantly sparking.

I only need 400 m to get level 5. That’s 15k of climbing. It just seemed easier than my Dogma because I don’t ride high mileage. After a climbing session I ride down on my Dogma.
It is odd spending 2 mill to update a 1 mill bike.

I don’t want a halo bike.
The idea of riding 3 lousy bikes to then purchase a bike is very strange.

Imagine how mad people would be if Zwift let people remove bikes from the garage. Then they would have to buy them a second time to upgrade to level 5 just to spend 10 mill for a bike that hardly anyone will actually see.

You don’t have to ride lousy bikes. You can pick some reasonable choices from Specialized like the S-Works SL8, S-Works Venge, and Aethos. It will take longer but you don’t have to care about that. Then you can get the amazingly hideous Specialized Project ’74 which has the benefit of being a road bike and not TT.

If you want to upgrade the Tron bike, you pretty much have to ride lousy bikes.
