Metric / Imperial Consistency

I have both Zwift on Windows and the Zwift Companion app set to use “Metric”.

While riding, Zwift for Windows shows distances in metres and kilometres, weight in kilograms, power in kilowatts and energy in kilojoules. All good, and all metric.

But past activities shows distances in kilometres, weight in kilograms, power in kilowatts but energy in calories (an imperial measurement).

Could Zwift be consistent with energy display please and use the metric energy measurement kilojoules both while riding and for past activities.

Look up the definition of a calorie and you’ll find it involves grammes and °C. It isn’t an imperial measurement.

It also isn’t an official SI unit of measurement, but it is used more globally than the SI measurement so more easily understood by most people.

But the Zwift problem …

The modern definition is that 1 Calorie is the equivalent of 4.1868 kJ.

When “metric” is selected, the Zwift HUD left display advises that I have used 830kJ at the end of a 1 hour ride.

But the same ride is stored in Zwift as an 813 Calorie ride. One Calorie = 4.1868 kJ, so an 813 Calorie ride should equal 3404 kJ.

#1. So something is off with the display of energy in Zwift. I suspect the “KJ” in the HUD left display is incorrect. I’ve no idea what it is displaying, but it does not appear to be Kilojoule’s (or Calories).

#2. My request is that the display of energy in Zwift when “metric” is used is the defined metric unit for work or energy, the Kilojoule.

There is some prior discussion of the conversion rate in this topic
