is it gone did it ZHQ kill it? kiss 100km
I havenāt touched it.
It looks like Sticky removed all the KISS races.
oh thank you for your info James @James_Zwift ,
day.
Does anyone know why? KISS 100 on Sunday is one of my favorites endurance races. There are a lot of regulars and a very nice community. Would be sad if it disappeared.
FYI: Just checked my ZwiftPower race history and I started doing KISS 100 races 2017 and started 186 timesā¦![]()
I think Sticky just decided to stop organising events.
This sucks. I look forward to the 100 every week
Maybe there is a club which would like to take the event over or organize a similar event?
I would happily join the club. And there are at least 5-10 other people I know which would be happy to join. (Hi B Phillips⦠would really miss racing 100k against and with youā¦![]()
Sticky: Thanks for organizing the Kiss 100 for all these years and thanks for all the pain, cramps and joy you dished out with it!
Maybe just on hiatus for the summer? Only 2 participants in the last race, and only 9 before that (across 5 pens).
It is not dissimilar to the Epic Races (although they are a bit shorter).
Iād also like to thank Sticky not only for the time he has put into running his events (and I hope it is just a summer hiatus) but also for his tireless work on Zwiftpower.
@Bath_Salts @Matt_Baker2 @b_phillips OK lets do this! The events team kindly added a new race event for me using the 13:15 UTC time slot on Sundays that the KISS 100 occupied most recently. Back in April they stopped using the 06:00 UTC time slot and I did not request a race at that time.
Please join the Longhorn Rhino Race and I would be immensely grateful if you would also alert any of your friends who enjoyed the KISS 100. It also helps build a decent field if you sign up well in advance rather than simply dropping in at race time. If you would like to bookmark the event for future use, use this URL: https://www.zwift.com/events/tag/rhino100
The Rhino Racing Discord is linked from the event signup page and the event description. Use that if you would like to propose routes for upcoming events.
Hi Paul,
Thatās Great News! Thank you! iāll join and spread the Word. Looking forward to the 100kā¦![]()
For all who read this, here is why a 100k Race is such āfunā and worth joining. If you do a 100k Race once a week (or every 2 week) youāll get a good endurance workout in and will figure out if your Training works. You learn tactics, since all out is not an option. The crowd turns out to be competitive but in general friendly and encouraging. Not racing against each other but with each other⦠and the main race is against yourself anywayā¦![]()
If you join for the first time in such a long race, bring some patience. You might need some time to figure it out until it gets the good kind of painā¦![]()
joined and shared with the DIRTy Mitten crew
Iāve done a few KISS 100 events and they are unlike ānormalā Zwift races. Much more of a competitive group ride atmosphere. I recall one race where a rider was dropped and we were all yelling at him to chase back on, and another one where a guy did a solo yolo attack met with cheers from the group (and of course that move did not work
)
Can you share what the performance verification requirements for A cat are, and if smart trainer primary is required?
Paul, is this set up so we see all the other categories? Looks like we have staggered pens, would be nice if this was more of a mass start since participation is kind of low.
I reviewed the KISS 100 event description regarding their requirements, and compared that to actual results. It does not appear that most of the rules were enforced (eg, there are podium finishers in A with private data and no duals). I think for now we will keep things as they have been. The power meter or smart trainer requirement is covered through hardware enforcement so zPower riders cannot join the event. HRM enforcement will apply to results in ZwiftPower. You can expect review of suspicious performances that you report if you drop into our Discord and DM me or Gordon Sloan. We donāt have automated tools for that type of review.
James copied the KISS 100 event settings for us, which means starts are staggered but all groups are visible. In my experience it is not at all unusual for stragglers to join up with the groups starting later. This is different from the ZHQ Epic races that are mass start, and IMO much more enjoyable since there is no reason to seek that nuclear meltdown in the first five minutes of a 2-3 hour race.
Recent kiss 100 had less performance validation. Historic Kiss 100 has some of the more creative manual DQ codes on the platform. It was generally pretty obvious when people were enhancing their performance so nothing automated was required.
For A cat, it would be good to set an expectation that podium needs duals and to have smart meter primary. This at least stops people sloping a powermeter / sticky watt benefits. While this sounds more restrictive having very basic perf verification in place will get more to join / commit time.
Problem is whenever performance verification is brought up, people come out of the woodwork to say it is only a game and why worry what others are doing. Arghā¦
You are damned if you do and damned if you donāt.
