Kickr Run + Zwift Disappointment

After purchasing the Kickr Run treadmill to run using Zwift, I was extremely disappointed after spending that kind of money that when using Zwift to run on a course and automatically control the incline, the speed maxes out at a 12:00/mile pace. So when running, I have to choose the auto-incline and run slow, or I have to choose to run my own desired pace but lose the auto-incline. I guess it is a safety feature but definitely a huge gap in expectations of integration and user experience.

That doesn’t sound right. I used to do walks faster than that.
Have you tried the run free mode where the speed is auto adjusted?

Have you completed the setup in the Wahoo App to take it out of shipping mode?

Shipping mode

The KICKR RUN arrives in Shipping mode, with a max pace of 12 minutes / mile and RunFree mode disabled. In order to access the full functionality of the RUN, the primary user needs to fully complete the in-app setup process (including the confirmation of safety and operational instructions) above for the first time.

Yes we adjusted it. The treadmill will go faster than 12:00 pace but not when paired with Zwift as “controllable”. But maybe I’m still doing something wrong….

Thank you for confirming that.
I’ll ask some of my Wahoo acquaintances to see if they have anything to offer.

You’d be our hero if you could figure it out!!

Well, Wahoo said to reach out to their Customer Service folks.
I can’t say for sure whether or not the issue is with Zwift or Wahoo, but those two companies worked closely together to make sure that the RUN worked well with Zwift, including the terrain simulation.

Hi @K_immyd_Team_ERRACE welcome back to Zwift forums.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. You haven’t mentioned updating firmware, and I’m wondering if you’ve already updated it? Wahoo’s firmware release notes call out a fix that sounds like what you’re describing?

Hi Shuji! Thanks for the input! We did just update the firmware and the treadmill itself will go faster than 12:00 but once connected to Zwift with the incline and speed controlled by Zwift, it won’t go faster. If we don’t have pair the incline with Zwift, it will go faster but it appears you can’t have Zwift control incline AND adjust the pace faster than 12:00.

Please report back if you get a solution to the issue.
I’d like to hear what it was.

Interesting. Any thoughts on what setting needs to be adjusted? The treadmill itself goes faster than 12:00 pace but once connected to Zwift, the limit is set.

Have you contacted Wahoo support?

Oddly enough, I set up the Kickr Run on a new AppleTV unit and it seems to be working fine now. :woman_shrugging:

How is it working now? Do you like the treadmill overall compared to others? Recommend it?

All good now. Maybe some weird AppleTV/Zwift issue.:woman_shrugging:

Aside from the Zwift integration, very solid treadmill. Not a big “dashboard” but you don’t really need it if you’re using Zwift. Speed and incline controls (big paddles vs buttons) are great too. So far, highly recommend.
