I have a super simple question, is it possible to create a meetup that will keep everyone together but will allow each rider to have there own individual ride? In other words, we stay together but one rider could, if working hard enough, go a farther distance then the others they are riding with? I rode an event with a group that kept everyone together but it calculated different distances and speeds and I didn’t know if this was just a feature for clubs and big sponsored events or if you can do it with personal group rides.
Welcome to Forums, this is Haziel from Zwift, I appreciate your thoughtful question! It’s great to see you considering ways to enhance the experience of group rides while still giving each person the chance to challenge themselves.
I’m happy to share some good news: it’s possible to organize a meetup where everyone rides together, but each rider’s performance is tracked individually.
With Zwift, when you set up or join a meetup, all participants can enjoy the ride as a community while still having their metrics, such as distance and speed, recorded separately. This means that even if one rider puts in extra effort and covers more distance, their individual stats will show that, all while everyone else rides together. For more details on this feature, I recommend checking out the Zwift Insider article titled “Keep Everyone Together.
I hope this helps clarify things for you! If you have any more questions about meetups or anything else related to the platform, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Which event was that? I expect keep together / banded rides to have roughly the same speed and distance for all. Otherwise the riders weren’t kept together.
With rubberbanding enabled, you can absolutely split groups; allowing for multiple ‘pods’ or even solos to catch or what have you.
I don’t do rubberband rides very often, but had it enabled on a short ride a month ago and had some people who didn’t leave the pen at go time, were able to catch back onto the group.
As for OP, I’m guessing you’re asking if someone is riding harder, that they “go farther” distance wise, but not visually, the answer is no. If two people remain together the entire ride, no matter how hard/easy they ride, they will go equal distance.
This confuses me. Are we talking about “Banded Rides”? How can people stay together but get different distances? Other responses to this question seem to say that everyone gets the same distance.
Yeah, doesn’t make any sense. The OP said similar though. Especially if the banded ride is not a time-based ride, but rather a fixed course, where everyone is done when you’ve finished the route.
