Heavier racers at a disadvantage in new cat/racing score system?

Which must be why I have to do huge w/kg then I have someone easily matching me with much less w/kg.

It’s the time old story said always on here that w/kg doesn’t matter, only raw watts does. Because mostly everything is flat.

How many races have 3000-4000m of elevation gain?

Man all I know is in the Glasgow Crit on ZRS, I am now getting hammered up the Clyde Kicker like I just started on a bike with no training wheels. And I used to hold my own on that hill. Nor is it a long climb.

The grass isn’t greener on the big guy side trust me.

Agreed.

And when you go to ZP, it still has everyone determined as A-E. Which is why I’m not convinced if this is all here to stay.

Sounds like that is on you. The Clyde Kicker is a power climb, it suits a big guy with a punch way more than it does a lightweight climber.

If you are maxing your heart rate when you get there then you don’t have a punch, ZRS now favours light riders on these type’s of courses, with CE like you say it used to favour big guys with a punch.

It was one example.

It’s pretty clear ZRS favors lighter guys now. That’s been said a few times here.

Just won a ZRS race
Suck it up buttercup…

No zrs doesn’t favor anyone… you just have to race smart and chose your courses if you want to win. I am very light, and get obliterated on the flats sometimes. Thursday I was on zwift world series A group at 18pm, big heavy guys were trying to get away on flat, they didn’t succeed at first, but that made me ride continuously over my ftp. I could barely stay with them during the first ascent, and was stuck behind at the end of the second climb when they accelerated on the flats. That left me with almost 50km alone. Other lightweights were left behind after but I saw 6 rage quits so i finished last of only 10 finishers. That made my zrs go from 695 to 681. Is that what you are calling having an advantage?
Outside I ride fast, and if in a group on the flats I will never be left behind, I am powerful enough for that, even on long and hard gran fondos

That literally means it favors people.

It favours riders who cannot sprint which is mostly the lighter riders, If you are light with a decent sprint it still favours you more than heavy riders with a decent sprint, the whole point of ZRS is to neutralise the advantage heavier riders with a decent sprint have in the old CE races.

find 5 light guys with a race winning sprint who aren’t seeded over 690. if you can even find 5 light guys with a race winning sprint on the entire platform. mine is about 770, for reference. i know exactly one and it’s a chinese C cat with 800w for 15s

There’s plenty of top guys who weigh 160 lbs pushing 12-14 w/kg in a sprint in the elite of things.

You also can’t find 5 guys over 200 lbs who are seeded over 690 either. Even with a 1,300 watt sprint.

Where anyone thinks a 2.5 wkg belongs in “E” or a 2.7 “C” should be up against a 4.0 wkg on this ZRS I just don’t get.

I just picked two random races here from this morning.

Zwift Crit Racing Club - Volcano Circuit CCW
D winner - 3.2 wkg
E winner - 2.6 wkg

Tofu Tornado Race
C winner - 3.9 (this is crazy)
D winner - 3.1
E winner - 2.7

Come on guys, these are not D and E numbers. What’s a true beginner going to do now?

There is a 10-20% difference in seeding wkg from the old system. Like we said above, the scales were not balanced, they were tipped in a completely different direction.

of course there is, but thats a different topic. the light guys in ZRS are not sitting in and waiting for the sprint. and if they were, nobody would have any complaints about the pace. and they wouldnt be winning the sprints either. well… most of them

Do you go out your way to miss the point on all my posts?

Not to add to the debate you two are having but I think unless you’re on the heavier/sprinter side, you aren’t going to feel the pain. People are missing the point. Justifying opinion versus actual numbers.

The community opinion is the seeding needs more work. And that’s been said on more than just this thread.

Meanwhile, we just need to focus on what’s left for the A-D races.

zhq already said they’re working on a revision like a fortnight ago, but people on these forums have memories like goldfish. i assume you never saw it in the first place though so here, even though @Paul_Southworth apparently already linked it in post 5 of this thread himself

No I never saw it. I don’t spend much time on here. Just read two other threads this morning discussing the frustration.

Just got annoyed how things are going for me as of late so wanted to voice my experience.

But I’ll read through that. Thank you for sharing it.

its more like my eyes tend to glaze over and i start thinking “what part of zrs is william chau crying about today. sucks to be him lol”. pretty sure i understood the point 5000 posts ago

I can only apologize for posting on an open forum, have you considered maybe finding a safe space for yourself away from all the hurtful online opinions where you will be safer?
