Hard Pride Rides

Hi, I think the Pride Rides are a great thing, and I fully support them. I also fully support people’s right to be who they are and love who they want to, and I’d like to show that support by wearing the pride kit. The only problem is that I don’t want to do a long slow ride on Zwift (I do them outside) and I don’t want to sign up for a ride that is listed as casual pace and go racing off the front (because I know people who have given up Zwift because that happened too much and made them feel bad).
So could we maybe get some hard pride rides? Could be races or workouts but I’m thinking something like a banded workout might be best to make sure it remains accessible for everyone. And certainly not all or even many of them, but maybe just a few a week, rotating through different times (to cover different work schedules and timezones)? What do people think?

Disclaimer - I haven’t ridden one of them, but I thought the Pride rides were free to all paces, but with a leader who would stick to a certain pace for people to stay with if they wanted to.

Ah cool, thanks for the response. Maybe I’ll do that - I just really don’t want to be the person dashing off and making others feel bad!

You won’t be the only one

as James has said Pride Rides are free to all paces and you are welcome to ride with whoever you want, not just the ride leader. I have done 3 of them and only rode with the ride leader once. There is no fence.

I can confirm, that (other than in the Sunday Pride rides year round) everyone is free to go on their own pace during June’s Pride On rides. Experience shows that most riders are actually able to find a suitable group during the rides. But of course, we leaders encourage everyone to blob around the leader for the best experience. Leaders like the draft effect too.
