Exploit found which can lead cheating

This is how the UCI totally eradicated EPO by 1991.

I did not want to make the comparison with IRL doping, but when I experienced live that you could change the weight I felt a little like this, on the one side Zwift says they are for fair racing, on the other side there are self-service distributors of EPO in the pen of each race…

I felt a little bit like Christophe Bassons being bullied by Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France 1999 or 2000…

@shooj I think it’s about time we got a concrete response on what Zwift is doing to do in order to:

a) Fix the issue. I.e. Plan, time-lines, impact.
b) Put right this disgraceful behaviour demonstrated by Zwift in how it has dealt with this scenario, with relevant apologies.

Let’s not try this “ignore it and it’ll go away” method, and when I say concrete response I mean a step by step plan of action, not some corporate spiel about section x paragraph y of how to do awful PR.

Playing devils advocate, im not sure its @shooj fault here… Im guessing he didnt wake up yesterday morning thinking he is going to debase himself & lose all credibility on the platform he works on every day when he set off for work.

Its up to whoever wrote that statement to front up & take ownership of it rather than leaving their staff to be cannon fodder.

I don’t think that anyone is saying it’s @shooj 's fault personally. I’m pretty sure he didn’t write that garbage that he was told to post.

Zwift do like to hide behind corporate garbage statements though, as demonstrated by the WTRL password debacle.

Have you any links about the password debacle? I totally missed it, and it sounds bonkers from what I’ve heard (a quick search didn’t really find anything).

Longer term would be right after Zwift Rowing comes online, which I’m told is Zoon.

@shooj was only messenger here. Someone from HQ lawyers/PRs send him a statement to publish. Sometimes frontend job stinks…

This actually saves me money. I had intended to buy a subscription for GCN for watching the UCI Worlds this weekend, but under these circumstances I am no longer interested in the event because I don’t see a reason why I should trust the results. Thank you Zwift.

i can think of more than a few reasons why you shouldnt trust the results but i do actually think ZADA are doing what they can with the resources they have. unlike zwift

Zwift is just acquiring new users the cheapest way possible to make the most amount of money when do their IPO. Nothing more.

Lots of alternatives out there … RGT, Rouvy, Whoosh, One Lap, etc, etc …

@shooj wrote that disgraceful post under his own name and I don’t think there is any need to make excuses for him.

Furthermore, the argument he presented is simply wrong. That section from the T&C he quoted talks very specifically about the usage of zwift, it does not apply at all to talking about cheating on zwift.

Luciano’s usage of zwift was not in the least detrimental, by the manner in which he did the tests. His subsequent talking about it was not usage of zwift in any way shape or form and that section of the T&C provides no basis for a ban on that point.

If he wants to come up with a reason to ban Luciano, he needs a better one than that.

Alternatively, if he wants an easy way to climb down, the fact that Luciano didn’t actually do anything wrong is a pretty obvious one.

Just so the team is aware, you may have bullied Luciano into taking the Wordpress article down, but there’s a link to an archived copy posted in the Zwift sub on Reddit. You can also find it in Google’s cached results. The Zwift subreddit is aware of this issue.

I’m not going to post the link here myself. I normally don’t like to tell people that a method to cheat exists. However, Zwift have given no indication that they consider this an urgent matter.

Newsflash, it is urgent. It is a wide open exploit. Those inclined to cheat already know about it, as Luciano indicated. If not, people will experiment - earlier I posted a link to a Redditor who said he was thinking of trying it out in game, and this was several days before the Wordpress post.

@shooj Please tell us what the team’s timeline for closing this loophole is. If the response is not “as soon as we can”, please state why. “Our longer-term plan is…” or “I’m posting to say I’m aware of this thread” are not acceptable responses, because again, this is a very simple exploit that has been open for some time. I normally prefer not to beat a dead horse, but the lack of response is giving the impression that the company is hoping this will go away.

Thank you - I won’t reopen the wounds by regurgitating it, but fasciniating reading albeit for all the wrong reasons.

Some posts have been deleted from that thread, but you will have got the main gist of what went on.
