Everest Jersey and Zwift Rewards I would like to see

The everesting thing is interesting, but on Zwift I perhaps just don’t get it. With especially virtual shifting plus trainer difficulty settings, aside from the visual representation that might be on your monitor, telling you that you’re virtually going up a virtual hill, isn’t Everesting just synonymous with doing a 12/18/24 hr ride of any type?

I seriously underestimated how hard it would be. I did the Marmotte twice and figured I could easily do a vEveresting from the comfort of my own home but I was wrong. Just the calories needed (5Mcal vs 7Mcal) are telling enough but that is besides the point of the monotony and the fact I was at home and could just quit at any moment.

The everesting.com requires 100% trainer difficulty btw and many of us don’t have virtual shifting anyway. Personally I did my everesting on smart rollers which even require you to balance the bike due to lack of gyroscopic effect because of slow wheel speed

It should be awarded to those who’ve had it officially verified. Otherwise all the bots and the folks weighing 30kg will get it. Or the folks using the NYC hack. Some things have to be done properly and not open to the usual “it’s just a game” and let them cheat if they want sort of thing.

I was planning to do one but after I crashed it was physically difficult to do long amounts of time on a stationary trainer setup due to saddle/hip pain, that was any kind of riding, not particularly just going uphill. I think I have started to get that under control. Outside on a real bike is no problem.

The difference with the long uphill repeats (I have done 3.5x ADZ in a ride) is that you have to push against the gradients and change gears and you might not always have the right gearing for all the times. It gets tiring and you have to resist temptation to go out too quickly at the start. Yes you feel good at the start, but after 4 laps, 5?

I might still try for half of the vEverest and see how I hold up with that.

But for now I’ve got another challenge.

Like we said it’s just a game, you don’t need to verify if you qualify for the black century kit either but it would be nice if there would be an official unlockable everesting.com hall of fame jersey but I’d be fine with a zwift jersey (everesting cost me 84% more calories than riding a century on the Uber pretzel)
