Have you checked the “Image uploading” option under Settings, that it hasn’t somehow changed to “Never”?
Thanks, that was a nice idea… However:
- Image upload is set to “Always” (just re-checked…)
- Why would this setting have any bearing on image display?
- How would it change, given the laptop is only used for Zwift, and I am the only user?
Simply a bug (which may or may not be triggered by something on my laptop…)
Good (for some values of “good”). Just thought an update might have messed with your settings or something like that… (It says “Upload activity photos”, could be argued that nothing to upload means nothing to show.)
Just to confirm, you can find these images on your phone, they aren’t being stored somewhere else (icloud or onedrive for example)
The logic is plausible (and interesting to check…), but the situation if different.
Thanks anyhow…
Images are stored on phone and laptop (all images are taken using ZC.) My impression is Zwift actually saves the image first locally, than transfers it to ZC.
And as I said earlier, no cloud storage S/W is installed on this laptop.
Do you think this is related to how images are being taken (ZC vs. locally)?
something to test, you have me stumped!
ok, one more idea to try. Go into the app info settings on your phone (touch and hold ZC app icon, go to app info) and clear out cache and make sure the permissions are allowed. No idea if this will work…
Won’t hurt…
Regardless, thanks!

Thanks for the detailed reporting. This is a puzzler. I’ve flagged it up to our QA team to investigate.
Thanks! It now gets ever weirder… images I’ve uploaded (manually…) to Stava, are now GONE!!!
This is - most likely - NOT a Strava issue (not in the trivial sense - see below.) Images take time to appear on Strava, so even when a ride is done, and the FIT file was uploaded by Zwift to Strava, images might still not be there for a while. In this case, I’ve uploaded them manually, and it would seem as if some external factor has been at play, Zwift being the only possible suspect. Also, I’ve seen similar in the past, where images I uploaded were replaced by Zwift-supplied images later.
I’ve created a support ticket for Strava regarding this (allowing third party image deletion is not something I approve of…), but I am seriously considering removing my Stava/Zwift integration…
Before:
After:
Another one, just now:
Still awaiting a solution from Zwift/support (and I don’t even want to think what will happen to those images I uploaded manually to Strava…)
btw, this is how it looks like when there are no images to upload:
Does that mean Zwift is able to find images, just not displaying/uploading (but deleting…) them?
So, I’ve done some more rides. The previous one I had no issue with image upload. However, I had a repeat today:
Obviously, there is no real change…
On the rides that did upload a picture, how many did you take? Could it be that over a certain amount of snapshots, this bug appears? Try a ride with no more than 5 pictures and see what happens.
Thanks, Mike!
Actually, there is no real correlation I can identify wrt number of images taken and image upload. Why would this feature even depend on the number of images taken? I would definitely class such behavior as bug.
… and 5 pictures for a 1 hour ride? They are all bound to be bad ones… I am a lousy shot.
So what, I’m just wondering if it would work, have you tried it? Can you say for sure that there is no correlation?
Tried it - yes. No harm giving it another try, though…
Say for sure? No…
… and why should we Zwifters accept such a limitation (assuming it does exists, that is)?
@B_CN
Following up on this issue. Is this happening after you finish and event and you do a world swap?
Or does it happen even if you stay in the same world after the event finish?
Or has this issue not happened since we’ve been through a couple of game versions since we last talked about it?
This issue (image upload) is unrelated to riding in event, or switching worlds, as it may appear at any random ride. The frequency is not high, but enough for me to be constantly vigilant to the possibility.
There has been no change what-so-ever to the limited number of screen captures taken using F10 “feature”, or the absence of “clean” captures when taken from the companion app (or the bizarre naming convention difference between files created using these methods)
This has been going for y-e-a-r-s now (first reported to support Dec. 2018 .) This whole issue of screen captures is simply a big bug.
Obviously, Zwift has other priorities.
On your next ride, would you try unplugging the cable to the TV and run just the laptop display? Let us know what happens with that one change?
