When I was riding last night, a double chevron was displayed in the powerup circle. This was very similar to the image below. What is the effect of this powerup?

Hey, good question! The double chevron icon you saw in the powerup circle is an event-only powerup. When activated, it gives you a small instantaneous burst of speed, kind of like a quick acceleration boost. I will share this article, PowerUps in Zwift, where you can see the effects of this power-up and others on Zwift.
It’s only enabled in certain Zwift events/races where organizers decide to include it.

The double chevron icon was available during an individual time trial (Tempus Fugit - event 5286660). I don’t see any benefit in this situation. It’s not like you can use it to catch up to a draft (not available in a TT) or sprint ahead of a group. If everyone uses it then no one benefits, especially on a flat course like Tempus Fugit..
