I’ve just got a kickr with a 9 speed cassette on it but my road bike I am trying to attached has an 8 speed shins no cassette.
Do I need to replace the 9 speed cassette with an 8 speed one or is there a cheaper way?
Welcome to the forum.
Yes your trainer has to match what you have on your bike. You can remove the 8 speed from your wheel and put it on your trainer if you are going to leave your bike on the trainer over the winter.
Make sure your bike is a freehub (cassette) and not a freewheel. Also if your trainer is a nine speed you may need a spacer to make into and eight speed else your shifting will be off.
That’s great, thank you both for the information
