Distance discrepancy Zwift Cog vs Garmin bike computer

Hello! I just got the zwift cog and clicker to go on my zwift hub. previously with a traditional cassette on the trainer, the distance between zwift workout and gamin computer (Edge 130 Plus) workout closely matched. Today I did a 30 minute workout and the gamin computer said I did 21.87 miles and the zwift workout said 2.49mi. Power and HR all matched. I already did the zwift calibration for the cog and shifters on my first ride. Has anyone else noticed that their Garmin bike computer does not play nice with the new cog? TIA!

Your HU is doing generic calculations based on power assuming flat ground.

Zwift’s physics aren’t connected to your head unit.

Oh gosh thank you so much!!! I tried searching for this before posting but clearly didn’t have the right search vocabulary.

And thank you for such a speedy response!

Got lucky with the timing lol.

Funny enough, I used to record all of my rides on my former Garmin watch a Fenix 5S+, which didn’t calculate speeds or distances… thus I dual-recorded to get stats from both sides.

I just recently in the past few weeks upgrade to a Fenix 7SPro which does do these speed and distance calculations… so I’ve ended up just disabling the connection between Zwift and Garmin.

Zwift’s speeds are a little fast anyways, and I’m not much of a counter of distance or speed, though I understand some people do care one way or the other.

Pick which works for you, either don’t record on the garmin / delete the ride at the end, or, just disconnect Zwift from garmin!
