Cycling Level 100, XP, Drops, and Streaks [December 2023]

I don’t think you have to ride that much to get more drops than you’ll spend

Well that depends, I used to buy almost everything in the drop shop so I was always the poor person with barely over 1m drops.

I’m probably the other end of the scale - i don’t really buy anything and so anything i get will be more than I need!

Now you get drops for levelling up as well as the stuff you get for riding means you can quickly have loads adding up

I’m not exactly zooming up to 27 million from 26 million however even though I’m not buying anything now.

Maybe it’s also that I don’t ride much with the robopacers due to the frustrating autobraking.

I can’t think of anything either but since I’m a near-infinite well of sunshine, rainbows, and positivity I choose to believe that ZHQ has something really clever and experience-improving dropping soon.

Why is the huge numbers of drops a problem?

Is it because some folk don’t want people to be able to immediately buy the latest new item from the drop shop?

If people have done the miles to earn the drops then I don’t see the issue.

Everyone makes this out to be some sort of big issue but I never see an adequate explanation for why.

because in a system that worked you wouldn’t have huge amounts of surplus drops.

you’d earn them then have something to use them on. but the useful thing to spend them on is not there which is why after a short period of time you just keep adding them to your total for no reason.

Just looked at mine and this is what I’ve got

got a few bikes and wheels including a tron, so don’t really see what I need these for & i’m about level 32 or thereabouts

yeah that is the issue for me, you get a couple of bikes you might want, then when you have the tron bike (which needs no drops to get) there isn’t anything else to use them for, They then just become a pointless counter that ticks upwards forever.

I have twelve and a half million drops and absolutely nothing to spend them on. So an event comes around with a bunch of unlocks to get, which I’ll never use but that’s beside the point, I keep landing on the same thing and I get…15000 more drops.

Problem: nothing to use my twelve and a half million drops on
ZHQ solution: MORE DROPS!

As above, the drops themselves aren’t the issue. It’s having nothing to use them on.

I keep thinking back to that Ceramicspeed mission, and how that could have been the start of components being available to buy in the drop shop.

That’s the entire reason I quoted @shooj in the post where he mentioned something being in the works to make drops not-pointless, after explaining how people at level 100 will get more and more drops for continuing to level up

I’ve always advocated for nerfing the Tron bike.

People would have to buy something else - like the S5 when it was king, everyone rushed to buy those.

Perhaps the Tron should be like the big spin bike, looks cool but is slow.

Component upgrades would be nice, but wouldn’t new routes in Watopia be nicer still?

Brilliant!

Maybe they should introduce a scheme where you can use drops to get discount from your monthly subscription… say 100,000 drops = 5% discount  :+1:

Now we have the Cruiser with its huge panels, Zwift can sell snazzy paint jobs for it.

Shocking pink? That’ll be 1,000,000 drops. Mondrian style? A cool 5 million.

Or they could sell some of the novelty bikes and costumes.

Big Wheel? Yours for 25 million drops. Dinosaur costume to ride in? 5 million per piece.

Do it. Du eeeet!

Rather than paying for paint schemes, better just give all bikes the colour slider that they are lacking and working colour changes.

I guess it would be far more welcomed than changes to XP needed to increase levels.

Yeah, but that wouldn’t then act as a sink for the millions of excess Drops that some people have.

I don’t feel that paying drops is a good solution for fixing bugs.

Maybe I’m not in touch with the modern UX design theory that says we should make users upset and cranky however.

All the time and effort spent messing with drops and level adjustments could have been spent on things people would really appreciate like more roads on Watopia or other existing worlds.

Or maybe bike component upgrades.

One year later, I still can’t use the Safety wheels I bought for over 700,000 drops. When will this ‘upcoming game update’ be available?
