Create own custom route and follow them

Definitely, I was going to post the same thing.

Ideally, we should be able to specify a route, name it and be able to export it. We should also, of course, be able to import routes that have been created by others. This would nicely support Zwift Insider’s “Rebel Routes” series.

We could even build the routes outside of the game, the same way workouts can be created.

It’d be great to have a selection of start locations too.

I’m sure it’s a common request but custom routes would be a super excellent feature allowing you to “draw” where you want to go in advance rather than picking corners as you get to them.

No need to draw. Simply give each junction an identity, maybe alphabetical, then daisy chain the ID’s to make a route.
So your route could be A-C-G-J-B-A for example. I’m sure the underlying code is not too complex to create a simple tool to do this. The UI would most likely hide the ID’s with the tool simply entering the chain as you click on the order of the junctions you want to take.
What happens as the map grows and we have more than 26 junctions? It will probably need double digit ID’s, so AA, AB, AC etc.

im a big fan of this, makes so much sense and doesnt seen that complicated as you can always change direction within zwift

There’s also an old thread requesting this in the archives:

Yes! Been thinking this for a while now. This is the number one thing I would like to see.

It would be awesome to be able to build your own route, that you could then use and not have to worry about navigating corners etc. It would also mean you could use these custom routes in meetups where corner selection / navigating is not an option.

Plan a route/turns ahead of a ride. Or select multiple turn in advance ingame

would be nice just to be able to practice or warm-up on "event only"routes.
Include Bologna too.

Very good idea I support her 100%

I’m also totally in for a routeplaner. Even if I can select routes while riding, it’s to hard to remember each intersection.

Absolutely support the idea of a custom route planner. Particularly with the ability to share your custom route with others so that others can join you on the route for a ride (as opposed to using a meetup - I gather this can have issues).

I would love to be able to create a custom route since the stock selection is so limited. If you’re looking for flat, tarmac routes there are so few to choose from and so many more interesting routes that could be created. Defining custom routes would be very welcome.

It’s mind boggling that Zwift hasn’t given users these seemingly basic function. My only guess is that the Spaghetti code is so messed up they can’t.

Custom routes made available for meet ups and events. Imagine how much variety we could get! There are so many events that are always the same… Zwift bugs are annoying and the events are getting boring.

Can’t find any thread on this since 2018/19 so thought I’d resurrect it - if there is a more recent thread then apologies I missed it.
As a feature request, please could we have the option to: map our own route.
Yes, the Zwift routes are fine but sometimes I’d like to mix it up a bit.
Having to remember where each turn takes me, and the potential options thereafter, makes me feel like a sat-nav… plus reaching out to touch an arrow when you are going full gas (on rollers) is not something I enjoy!
As someone who rides outside, the ability to just map a ride, jump on my bike and ride feels so natural I don’t know why a similar option to ‘map a route’ on Zwift can’t be added

Yeah custom routes would be great, my thread got closed but I wasn’t really talking about custom routes for the current Zwift roads but a tool to create totally new courses. Something similar to RGTs Magic Roads feature.

9 posts were split to a new topic: Create your own route and follow (Roadcaptian)

Zwift is missing out. It is a very easy feature to offer some 15 minute routes that you can use to practice cyclocross, do a few laps, get off the bike, do curls and upper body repetition in a fun high intensity workout session, then get back on the bike. The medical research shows this is a superior approach to longevity. Peloton is using similar concepts, the idea is that there is not one type of rider. Some people enjoy the fun of mountain bike riding or cross biking or gravel riding and cross training in short and medium pitch segments with high variation in the real world that they would like to practice in game.
