Interesting indeed. Have you tried exiting and rejoining since the changes yesterday? Also worth checking the same values on your Zwift Power power curve.
Yes, I never joined a race. Logged out and checked again. Still only A available.
My w/kg in ZP is a bit higher, reaching a maximum of 5,0 on MAP due to some weight gain lately. My CP might also be slightly higher due to that. But max 3,78.
Do you mind sharing your ZP profile?
I have one really good 4min effort from December, maybe that one is included in some way?
a space after zwiftpower due to that I could not include links.
My category didnât change but to be fair I wasnât expecting it to, see in in the A pen Monday night @gloscherrybomb
Ah youâre one of those really strong Bs who ruins it for everyone else by winning race after race.
Note Iâm not blaming you, youâre a symptom of the system. Youâll do just fine in A.
Yeah, the big difference being that controlling 20 minute power will not work, if they show they are capable of more than that with their shorter duration power.
The watt floors are a tricky one. I think they work quite well to allow for those that are so light that they cannot typically hold the draft in their w/kg category, but once you are past that itâs every man/woman for themselves.
Ruins⌠should everyone win in the game?
I win a few races, but I am not winning all the races. In 2022 I have won 3 races, out of 26âŚ
You are certainly right on the cusp, so as the model may be slightly different to the one used by intervals.icu, it may have just tipped you over the edge. You definitely have the numbers to be competitive in cat A generally, so I would see this one as a promotion.
Thanks for the clarification.
So if I have done the maths correctly using the HighNorth spreadsheet.
20min 276w, 5min 297w and 3min 307w
This gives me:
CP of 271.9 with a 97% goodness of fit, therefore a CP of 3.24 w/kg (84kg)
My MAP using 5min 297w and 8min 276w gives an average of 286.5 and therefore a MAP of 3.41w/kg.
As I am below C boundary for MAP (3.9) but only just above for B CP (3.2) this categorises me for entry for B and above.
All makes sense, now I only have to wonder how my borderline CP and below category MAP will play out over 5 laps of the Champs at B pace.
Could be, I am just curious and prefer an open system where you like in ZP can see the values and clearly understand why you are in a specific category. Since I am at least 0.2-0.3w/kg below on CP, and 0.4-0.8 below on MAP. It would be interesting to know what part kicks me up to A.
More than interesting, I think itâs important â essential even â that racers understand why theyâve been put where they have.
Pretty much - right on the cusp, and again as the CP model used by Zwift may be slightly different to intervals.icu, it has decided youâre Cat B.
There will still be same issue we have currently with riders consistently being at the top or bottom of the category - if the boundaries can be determined by the race organiser, this will no longer be a problem. Itâs not fun always being the nail, sometimes you want to be the hammer.
Yes I agree. It would be good if Zwift can provide the calculated CP and MAP/VO2 values. Maybe they can add these to Zwift Power for the time being.
In fact I would say it is critical to do this before rolling it out to all races @xflintx, or people will continually ask why.
Good analysis. Howâs your sprint?
Agree. I can live with this for the test period. In my perspective the model described seems to be very interesting and could be a good improvement, and minimize the risk of sandbaggers stopping after 19m30s⌠Or people just competing in races under 20min.
Frankly with your profile Iâd be embarrassed to ride in B cat.
Bit harsh, heâs a legit B by the Zwiftpower standards. High yes, but not even borderline (unlike the guy who won our WTRL B race last night, who is now conveniently an A!).
