Following on from another thread where weight had changed dramatically and fairly regularly over a 12 week period I have given further thought to the above comments.
Is it right to use your current weight to calculate W/kg either CP or Map? Doesn’t this allow adding weight (and temptation) to remain in or under a category boundary?
Shouldn’t the CE system use best Watts over 60 days and the weight associated with that effort.
Or better still how about best Watts during 60 days AND lowest ‘race weight’ over those 60 days. This would make adding weight, to remain in category, pointless and remove temptation to reduce weight for specific races as this weight would remain with you for 60 days.
I use ‘race weight’ as I have read and appreciate that users sometimes wish to adjust their weight for group rides, and their own personal non-race circumstances, etc.
For regular honest racers does your weight move so much in a 60 day period that you would be worse off more than you might gain through fairer racing? ( this doesn’t stop you racing at your correct weight just your CE would be calculated using lowest 60 day weight )
