I wanted to read about your experience about the Burrito.
Generally, all powerups are meant to give an advantage, either to win the race or to keep holding on to a group when almost being dropped. The only powerup that is different is the Burrito.
I think the Burrito is a really bad and unfair powerup since it targets weak riders in a negative way and strongly favors the stronger riders. In yesterday’s ZRL race the Burrito brought this to an extreme, when two whole 3minute climb were completely without draft, since there was always one or two Burritos in the whole field. (Although, it felt to be a bug that there were so many Burritos)
Not everyone has the luck to be on the upper end of a category, but weaker riders practically have the goal in mind to only hang on to the group until the finish. And since weaker riders are usually at the end or second half of the pack, they are the ones who got totally demolished by those Burritos. The stronger riders on the other hand already have the power advantage, but they can also more easily stay at the front of the pack where they are ADDITIONALLY, not even affected by most Burritos, even saving energy, that weaker riders have to put out more.
The Burrito effect was really horrible and I don’t think this is a fair powerup.
Zwift stopped using the burrito powerup in their races. I don’t use them in my races, and that is typical of community events. WTRL is largely immune to feedback and probably won’t be influenced by a discussion here, so all I can say is don’t join ZRL races if you don’t enjoy them.
You can search the forum for burrito discussions as it’s been talked to death already and everything has been said.
The burrito is great in Ladder Races. But that is a different style of racing and the racers know what they’re in for.
Some sort of burrito-lite that makes the individual rider undraftable rather than removing all draft behind them would be better in races with bigger fields.
I am skipping every race that has a burrito in it. No matter wether its ZRacing, ZRL, Ladder. I hate it with such a passion I wont even start.
Things that negativly impact other riders should not be in Zwift. Certainly now with the new pack dynamics. Whats next. A flat tire power up, so the 4 closest riders get a flat tire and cant do any watts for 5 seconds ?
What about chain drops that randomly happen in very aggressive sprinting?
I also see talk of the “problem” of people having too many drops. Introduce bike servicing that is required. If you service the bikes frequently (100,000 drops at a time) then you have a nicely reliable running bike.
If you don’t, then you have chain drops, missed shifts and other problems randomly happening in your races.
So does that too many drops “problem” still seem like a problem? Or is it okay now.
Punctures would certainly be under the category of Making Racing More Exciting™. Anyhow I agree with you.
Or the tyre pump power up. You get the tyre pump and jam it through the spokes of the rider whose avatar is forcing you out to the edges of the road (due to either steering or the pack dynamics behaviour).
Alternatively, just ride in the early time slots where the powerup configuration is reliably wrong. We had default helmet-truck-feather in Amber & Pink. Was also wrong last week.
Zwift got rid of it and people asked to return it.
I like the ghost but it was only for finishing sprint and Zwift nerfed it. Aero they cut from 30 to 25 seconds. Draft doesn’t work as good with PD5. Large bonus was scaled back a long time ago.
