Block other Zwifters in Zwift Companion [August 2024]

Not saying there isnt. Just that I havent seen it at all. No spamming, no faul language or other reasons to block someone. And I do Zwift a lot.

Zwift is a really nice environment compared to other games.

for the most part i agree. but even when 999 out of every 1000 people are sweethearts, and they are… it’s a good thing to be able to tune the 1 person who isn’t out, at the very least.

i myself don’t mind just telling them to f off in no uncertain terms but that’s not really in the spirit of the rules of conduct either. other people might encounter extreme situations like in some of the examples discussed in the thread paul linked above and that type of thing can really change how you see the world. it only has to happen once

One other piece of functionality that would help is the ability to turn off chat only in the HUD, but have it still available on the companion app. Right now if you turn it off, it completely disables chat.

Sometimes I want to be able to private message a friend or check in on the chat, but I want to be able to decide intentionally when I look, and having chat in the companion app only would allow for a better experience.

+1 for this feature to go one step further and to be able to block any messages appearing from that blocked rider on your screen.

Another one-step-further feature, or process, should be looking at the most-blocked users and reviewing their behavior even if they are not reported. The blocking feature may reduce reporting since it can provide relief without relying on an opaque reporting process that often doesn’t work, but if someone is repeatedly being a creep and getting blocked, that should trigger a review of their behavior and a potential decision to shadow ban or terminate a user. Someone who does it once is more likely to do it again, and metrics around which users get blocked the most could identify those people for proactive enforcement even if they are not reported.

Zwift could also track how many times a user was flagged and taken action but they came up with a silly rule of 3 people in the same activity had to flag the person.
Not sure if that’s still a thing.

Sorry for the late response on this one. When we went live with this, we had reporting in place for the exact thing you’re calling out.
