On a ride last night, the planned event leader was unable to join. Instead, another rider was delegated as leader, however with no beacon, it was difficult to identify where the leader was. Perhaps when setting up an event, a ride leader could designate one or more alternates, with the beacon showing on the primary if available, the secondary if not, then the third, etc.
Same happened on a WBR ride I joined - result was a bit of a mess - group became very strung out over a km or more
@ Neville, in fact it was a WBR ride last night that prompted this. Another guy did a great job of taking over for the leader, but without the beacon it was more difficult than it could have been.
