Visually it’s very nice afterward for the price, I would have put it at 999 euros and not 1299 euros which seems a little excessive given the economic situation in quite a few countries which is still very fragile… (inflation, power decreasing purchases…) after me what scares me (well yes as usual because it sticks to the image of zwift for years unfortunately) is that there are quite a few connection problems, bugs etc… especially with —> (Zwift Play controllers and also with Cog technology…) to have a precise answer to this fear we will have to wait for the return of certain customers… ( guinea pig)
Is the contact area really much different than a real bike’s front tire? However, using a hedgehog under that front support might be a bit iffy.
Looks to be about the same if not a little bit wider (like a fat gravel tire). But the advantage of a real wheel and tire is … the fact that makes a giant tie down point.
I’m just surprised there’s no tie down point or hole through it to run a strap through or something; or again, as I’ve said many times now, a connection point for say the Kickr Climb.
I definitely wouldn’t stick anything under it personally; but if I did own one, and it was hefty plastic on that black section on the front, I would be considering putting a nice notch through it to run a strap through it for a rocker.
There has been hints of more to come that front fork section is detachable apparently.
That or get the drill out to make a clamp down hole.
I know the Ride frame is not yet for sale as a separate product, but would it be compatible with the zwift one (I own a Zwift one)? So I could sell the Kickr Core as a new product on any auction site and simply use the new frame on my existing Zwift One trainer.
Is that an option?
Yes it is compatible per DC Rainmakers review video, you can see it mounted on the zwift hub in the video.
Is it possible to order just the frame of the Zwift Ride trainer and use it with the Wahoo Kickr that I already own (instead of the Wahoo Kickr Core)? Thanks
Not yet.
I’ve heard that the frame will eventually work with other trainers, but unless it has one of the single cog rear things, I don’t see how you’d get the chain and rear derailleur shifted into whatever gear(s) you’d want to use if there’s a full cassette on your trainer? One of the attractive parts of using the virtual gear setups, is the potential for extended ranges by combining both virtual shift range with manual shift ranges.
I don’t think it would be that hard. There is no derailleur. Loosen the chain tensioner, install the frame on the trainer placing the chain on a cog that provides good chain line, tighten the chain tensioner. (Naturally I have not tried this but it should not be difficult.)
To me the bigger point of speculation is how much drivetrain power loss is caused by the funky chain routing and tensioner on the “bike” compared to a traditional chain tensioner.
Sorry if this has been answered (tried looking), but can the Zwift Ride be delivered to Denmark (EU), and when will just the frame be available?
maybe through Wahoo, do they ship to you?
Zoon I think they are targeting the fall for just the frame, but not too sure on that
I had a go at the National Cycling Show and at almost two metres tall, I reckoned that it would too small!
It fit perfectly and it I wonder why anyone would not buy anything else??
I did just that!!! With my existing Core and recently retired Giant Defy, in leau of 2024 Defy SL. Geometry is nearly identical, cranks are 175, Zwift Play is a nice add. I’m only in for $189.
So the other complication that was mentioned recently is that it uses an 1/8" chain so that would not work with a multigear cassette. If the chainring and chain tensioner will allow a 3/32" chain then it could work, otherwise there would have to be more modifications.
EDIT: GpLama says it’s 3/32" chain so maybe not a problem after all.
I would have been a buyer if/when the Zwift Ride is available separately, but I have a Kickr Climb, which is integral to my Zwifting experience & training for hill climb races.
I think that Zwift did an overall good job with this, but made a big mistake of not making it compatible with the Kickr Climb, maybe at some point an adapter or different fork could be offered. I’d be a buyer at that point.
When will the Zwift Ride frame be available to purchase without the smart trainer for people who have already got them?
Yes, just that the standalone frame package hasn’t been released yet.
That’s what I’m asking when will it be released?
Zwift haven’t announced a date yet.
