I’m planning to ride The PRL Full next weekend. I’m also actively working on upgrading two frames: Zwift Steel and Specialized Aethos S-Works. I planned to use the Zwift Steel throughout the ride except for when I’m riding up Box Hill, at which time I’d swap to the Specialized Aethos and then swap back at the top of the climb.
I’m curious how the Zwift bike upgrade system would work with this: if I accumulate multiple levels of upgrades, will I continue to gain distance/elevation through each level or do I need to upgrade at each one? If it continues to accumulate, when I swap bikes will that accumulation continue as well?
A few weeks ago I upgraded two bikes on the same ride.
If you are using the Steel bike on the ride and have an upgrade available, I would recommend to keep riding and spend the drops to get the upgrade when you do your bike swap to the Aethos, and the same goes for changing from the Aethos to the Steel. You will be in the garage anyway doing the bike swap, and your progress towards the next level will be kept.
You are stopping twice each lap. My advice: it is easy and takes only 2-3 seconds to buy your upgrade when you are stationary changing your bike - do so when the need arises and gain the upgrade benefit on both bikes over the remaining laps.
I completely overthought this
makes total sense to just do the upgrade since I’m in the garage, so doesn’t matter how Zwift would handle it. Thanks @Dan_Kothlow and @Ian_Attoe!

Good luck on your PRL Full. It is a long day on the trainer.
