It would be great if we could have a overall Stage unlock progression bar. As we are going through the 5 Stages, you can see the progress bar updating as you’re within that stage but if overpass the Stage without actually buying the upgrade, you can’t see how far you are in the upgrade process, see below:
My P74 bike already has Stage 2 completed, and probably is close to finish Stage 3 but I can’t see how much is needed since I haven’t purchased Stage 2 upgrade yet. I’m saving drops to get the Pinarello Espada TT bike, only after, I’ll resume buying the Stages on P74.
A simple progress bar indicating where you are regarding all 5 Stages would be a great addition.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure I read that you can only progress towards the next level after you’ve upgraded. In your case that would mean you won’t be ‘nearly at stage 3’, as it won’t start counting until you’ve purchased the upgrade to stage 2. Hope I’m wrong.
Kinda of Mike. We don’t have access to progress report page, unless we finish a ride riding a specific bike. The request is to have that information in the Garage when you select a bike. Also, on the Progress Report page, it doesn’t show how far into a Stage you are for a that bike.
I’m pretty sure that’s not the case as I have upgraded all 5 stages at once after knowing that I had finished the last stage. The upgrade progress continues even if you don’t buy, right away. Unless they have changed that
Fully understand your request, hope Zwift deliver but as usual may take some time. [edit - clearly I didn’t read your first post carefully enough as I thought you wanted something else !]
However isn’t all the information you want found by just selecting the bike you wish to look at within your garage?
I’m slightly concerned for you in that on your Project 74 your picture shows you are 1050 /1050 kilometers - I hope that isn’t just the stage 2 completed details. As has been said above the general information on upgrades is they need to be purchased upon finishing a stage and before any further session is undertaken to gain the additional work towards the next level.
Extract from ZwiftInsider:
“One last tip for upgrading as quickly as possible: once you’ve done the work to unlock an upgrade, spend the Drops to buy it before you begin a new session! If you’ve unlocked an upgrade, then start a new session, that new session’s work won’t be added to the next step of the upgrade.
So when you see the upgrade unlock notice mid-session, just remember to purchase the upgrade at the end of that session. Any additional work you did after unlocking the upgrade will go toward your next upgrade if you do it this way. (You can also stop right there and buy it, if you’re willing to stop. But that can be a hassle.)“
I’m pretty sure if you continue to ride past the Stage Completion it will continue to count towards the next Stage. Pretty confident I’ve already done that.
I won’t test that right away on my P74 since upgrades on that bike are quite expensive and as I said, I’m saying drops to buy the Espada TT bike. I will test it and report back by upgrading the Zwift Steel frame which is much cheaper and only a 100Km for the first stage.
All - Please don’t forget to VOTE for the feature (Even-though, Voting on Requested features is probably the most useless feature in this forum Hopefully Zwift will look into “Topic Reads” instead of votes to determine popularity)
Ok. So test completed. You can continue to ride after the Stage upgrade is reached, no need to stop and purchase the upgrade right away. The excess Kms will accumulate towards the next Stage, see screenshots below.
Before starting the ride today, my Zwift Steel bike was 28km short from the Stage1 upgrade:
You can ride more in the current session, and you can upgrade at any time before your next session, but if you start a new session you will no longer be able to use the km used in the prior session towards a new unlock.
So you should not be able to stack multiple levels unless you ride them all before starting a new session.
Probably will need to test that as well, but pretty sure you won’t loose your progress even if you don’t upgrade right after you finish the ride. My Specialized aethos is at stage3 but I have Stage 4 already reached but didn’t upgrade it but I have continued to ride it and remember gettIng the messages os the remaining Meters remaining towards Stage5
If it does that, it is a glitch because that is contrary to what was explained when the upgrade program was released. As noted in a previous post, if you don’t upgrade, future mileage (on subsequent rides) will not count towards future upgrades.

I don’t think you can do this. You have to purchase the upgrade in order to have your ride count towards the next stage.
If you complete an upgrade during a ride, then any additional time, distance or elevation will be applied to the next stage but that ends when you end that specific ride or session.
Additional gains will only be applied after purchasing the next upgrade.
@AlexM370
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I"m confirming that you have to purchase the upgrade before your ride counts toward the next stage of bike upgrade.
You’ll see a notification during a ride that you’ve reached Stage X of 5 bike upgrades. The ideal workflow is to go to the Garage and spend the Drops immediately after that notification, BEFORE you log out of that session.
