What are you going to plug that ANT+ dongle into? It cannot work with an iPad.

The Wahoo factory spindown process is still usable with trainers that do auto-calibration and that is a good thing to try. It is documented here:

unfortunately you need a 3rd power meter to figure out which ones are reporting wrong, could be the pedals or could be the kickr… have fun going down the rabbit hole!

And I am going to use the ANT+ Dongle on my Macbook…

Wahoo support already replied and asked for a comparison of two .fit-files (with a planned power up and down) from Kickr’s and Garmin’s Power Readings …

Made a parallel recording with Kickr’s readings and the Garmins:

Average Power differs at all Power stages around 20 Watts. In total average of this short 9 Min-Run ist 148 vs. 170 Watt.
Unfortunately ChatGPT was wrong with my Ant+ Dongle → no Windows or MacOS App to do the spindown. And iOS-App still fails.
So lets see what Wahoo Support tells me…

I would try a longer test too. Sometimes the trainers need time to warm up and temp can cause power fluctuations. It could get better after 10 or 20 minutes… or could get worse too?

Done that already on an hour run - simply did not save the workout on both powermeters (just had a look at my bike computer in parallel). But problems persists all the time - not getting better or worse.

Is your PM single or dual sided and how clean and well lubricated with a good lubricant (check zero friction cycling) is your drive train?

It’s double sided and quite new. Calibrated via app. Seems to be right.

Wahoo Support reported back with “there are discrepancies in data” and I should do the “new spindown”. Dunno if that is different to what I tried before. But will test later.

And your drive train? Poor dirty drive train can lose you 10-15W easily, cross chaining and small cogs on the cassette too btw

I am absolutely no pro on all this technical stuff. But I cannot imagine the drive train would be poor. Its a new Zwift Ride Setup, no cross chaining as with Zwift Cog.

A few minutes ago I completed the “new spindown” but unfortunately the discrepancy afterwards was even a bit higher than before. I double recorded a one hour workout and the difference is 24 Watt. Reported this back to Wahoo and we’ll see…

I cannot imagine it being good because it doesn’t need to be. My suggestion would be to use 1 pm indoors and out, that’s what I do too

Yeah, sounds like a valid option - but I am too lazy to switch the pedals each time between indoors and outdoors…and to be honest: the Setup for Indoor wasn’t too cheap and I expect it to work as advertised (if I remember correctly around 2% for the Kickr Core2 - if have beyond 10%).

Did you perform a static torque test of your pedals? (I don’t know how difficult it is for vectors but for my assiomas it was quite easy)

Just to close this out: even after trying all the suggestions here (fan, CO₂ sensor, etc.), it still felt far too hard. I also did parallel recording, and the numbers confirmed a large discrepancy. Wahoo support was very helpful. After reviewing my files, they sent a replacement KICKR CORE 2.

I did my first ride on it yesterday and the result was excellent. The difference between the CORE and my pedal power meter is now around 1%.

So if anyone is seeing a huge mismatch, it might actually be the CORE and not your setup.

Not really finished unfortunately: after a few rides I am up to a difference of 10-14 Watt again. Not as far as before, but not as good as in first ride. Guess I just have to live with it…
