Zwift Racing Score - Seed V3 Release [December 2024]

Im sure if he wins the system will be fixed, and all will be right in the world, if he loses, still broken and how dare there be a system that doesnt put him top of category as he has worked hard to get there in D and stay (just) there.

By vELO, Petr’s best in last 90 days is 1123, which would be second best in pen (without looking at how other riders’ vELO have changed in last 90 days).

i still dont get what exactly was wrong with A-B-C-D pens. besides sandbagging which zwift couldve just focused on getting those people fixed instead of this absolutely mess of a ZRS which is constantly just worse and worse, ive yet to seen what its supposed to accomplish?

Again besides sandbagging what was the problem that required such a massive change? Ever since ZRS racing has sucked with people getting constantly placed a tier below their old category and just making it unfun. Before it was simple want to move up just get better work for that 4.2 or 3.2 whatever the next upgrade is and be realistic in expectations based on the course… Now you do a race and you’ve got a multiple riders with power numbers completely useless trying to compete against that somehow still havent gotten their ZRS upgraded high enough like 4.5+ w/kg guys racing B and upper 3s if not 4s still in C. Completely stopped me from joining races when i see 1/4 the start group at 4.5 w/kg in Bs. Just looking at fresh outta is a joke half the time more than half the pens being from the old cateogry above. Not to mention the emptiness of B with so many 3.5+ w/kg guys now in C cat lol its either race 5 people or race 30 people and 20 of them can do 4.5 w/kg.

Having to change it this many times just shows how terrible of an idea this was.

I have noticed my racing score has dropped 77points in 1 week of not racing (due to sickness). Is this because of the new formula or the fact I didnt race?

New formula

So how did you finish?
I assume you are the C rider.

I did the Fresh Outta Stg3 Loop de Loop Cat B event this morning with 14 other dudes (no girls apparently this time). My ZRS is down to 615 after the V3 update but that still puts me in the Cat B pen. I was able to hang and even take some pulls off the front until we got to the 2 minute plus (for me) Watopia KOM whereupon I was dropped like a stone. Lost 22 seconds from the lead pack and couldn’t make up the 7 seconds to the second group and ended up the grupetto along with a coupla other Diesels. 9th on the road/5th in ZP at the line.

I believe ZRS needs to factor in punch (of which I have none) to the equation. 2-3 minute power makes a huge difference in these events and for those of us with very little punch we’re not going to have a very satisfactory race experience trying to get our Diesel engines to put down Electrifying power. I’m thinking 10 minute with a 3 minute factor would be a more accurate indicator of race capability.

Rich finished DFL in that B race. How in the world ZRS gave Rich a 558 score is beyond me. He’s gonna get shelled every time out in a Cat B race.

48th and just over 5 minutes behind the winner and yes in my post I said I was the lone C rider, got partially dropped on the esses on the way to the KOM then got shat out the back up the climb, was on my own then for the majority of the time

That went down from 570 to 558 from that result

I’m at 615 and it’s gonna be a tough road if we hafta race Cat B from here on out. 5 minute power alone isn’t gonna cut it. There needs to be some consideration of the punch factor.

Man I hope so…

It seems that one of the biggest issues with ZRS is bracket ranges, which after 3 interactions is still relegated to be updated in January.

Why couldn’t just they copy what Team TFC has been doing for ages now, since the CE days, of having tighter ranges? See below their ZRS ranges:

How difficult it is to implement that?

I’d have needed to match my pb time up the hilly kom to have kept touch with the front group, and considering I set that 2 and half years ago when I was far fitter and lighter there was no chance of that happening

I was actually surprised I was able to hold on until the climb, couple more of those results should see my score drop, my 12min was only 5w off my 90 day pb

Probably back in C after next race.
Seems like movements up and down are too slow.

Maybe a factor where if you finish beyond a certain time percentage of the winner, the correction is multiplied by 2.

I’m not sure pen boundaries will help most of the issues that I see.

I think a system that corrects faster would be better, perhaps.

I need to drop over 38 points to get back into the 350-520 pen, considering I lost 12 on that race would need at least 4 more results like that race, and not sure I can be bothered when getting shelled after 12 minutes or so

Most likely what is gong to happen is that I’ll set a new 5 min 90 day effort tomorrow and get promoted via zmap

You’re right.
I thought 550 was the cut off.:frowning_with_open_mouth:

Some of it perhaps just being an off day? Your avg watts about 25w below your recent bests, 5min power also down about 30w or thereabouts. No idea however as to how that translates to minutes.
