Zwift Racing Score - Seed V2 Release [December 2024]

I had the same feeling when I saw the line up for my ZRace yesterday :

Sorted it on 20 minute powers. As you can see I am second to last with 1w/kg difference from the CE A Cat rider.

But this weeks Going Coastal is a flat as they come and just like you I had a chance with my sprint. You also have the best raw watts of those in your pic just like I had.

This was the result in my race. From bottom in the prediction to :

So, its not always as bad as it looks.

I didnt take the win the other day, but I took a top 10 out of 100 starters with .5wkg less than everyone else in the race.

Half the time people go into a race defeated by looking at Zwiftpower prior to the race (or by their own power ceiling they impose so as not to get upgraded)

Exactly! 20 min w/kg (60 min zFTP) is a poor way to predict results of short (45 min or less), flat (under 5 minute climbs) which is what most of Zwift racing is. But people got used to CE which used that to categorize folks and are having a hard time letting it go… Maybe if Zwift stopped using the lettered (A-D) system for pace categories, it would help loosen the the death grip on 20 minute w/kg?

my ZRS has gone up from 402 yesterday, to 449 now with the new seed calculation. Most of the racing I do is not ZRS eligible (TTT’s, ZRL, Club’s custom races, etc.) I think my last ZRS race was a few months ago.

Edit, last ZRS eligible race was Nov. 5th

Well my score has changed, its went up instead of down which is strange, lower than my initial seed score which was 353, it is now 332 (was 311) with a 10 min
249w 2.7w/kg

A Cat B I was racing other day is now 353 with a 17 minute of 253w 3.6w/kg ( dont have 10 minute numbers)

I take it the 353 score is not his floor score as he podiumed his last race and one losing race in Cat C and he will be back in D if Pens are kept the same scores as before.

Just refreshed zwiftpower and mine has changed from 190 (85% of old seed score) to 224… Surprised given my 10min power is only 234W (2.51W/Kg).

I’m hoping current number shown is before reprocessing race results since 25th September!

Albeit unless 100% of my new seed score is under 212, it cannot drop under the current default pen E limit of 180.

Edit: Quick look at last weekend’s Tiny Races I did in zone 2 (full results in Tiny Races thread) currently shows 224 reached 85% seed score against all four races when I finished 16/26/19/23 out of ~65 racers. Includes my best 10mins by W and W/Kg of last 90 days.
Something isn’t right at the mo, shirley?!

My score went up 1 point since yesterday. I don’t know if they are done processing, but the thing that matters to the race experience is what happened to everyone else because that determines who’s in the pen with me. I wouldn’t expect removing 30s to have much effect on my score relative to others. Score moved from 391 to 392. 10 min @ 266W / 3.45W/kg. I could probably do more but it’s unlikely I will have many opportunities for that.

See the original post. Seed scores are being recalculated as we speak, so wait till that’s done then check again, and then your feedback will be against the latest system.

I said it before and still think Zwift rushed this ZRS onto us without being it finished. So many things still not working or should have been changed.
No idea why they rushed it, might be some intern deadline, but they sure did.

mine hasn’t changed from last nights results

The OP said they’ll tell us when the recalculations have finished.

So - my ZRS just went up from 502 to 511.

I don’t know if reprocessing races will mean that the ZRS shown on those race results will change or not, I know the last ZRS race I did is still showing the same score that it did before.

My original seed score had been 418.

Perhaps they arent finished yet. In the OP Zwift said :

I looked at my last ZRS race on Zwift and it shows 332 as my floor score so my seed score puts me in Cat C again which makes no sense.

I see my ZRS floor just got bumped up by 30ish points. BUT, in the races I took part all the overly powerful / under seeded racers got pushed up to the middle of the range above. So this looks promising. At least the direction looks right.

I’m not sure how to interpret my recent races in context with my new score.
Originally, my score was 194 and, thru weekly racing, I had increased it each race to 210.

Now, it appears my seed score is 230 and this is indicated for all the races I have done.
Does this mean that none of the races I did would have increased my score even though I beat people and always finished in the top 1/2?
The cat didn’t change so I expect to be racing most of the same people.

I’m just confused what “the new seed score will be recalculated and all race results will reflect this” actually means.

i went from 412 points to 484 points

it’s not much to interpret here. The race finishing positions are the ultimate rating of racers abilities for that type of a race. We can just watch if the new score aligns better with finishing positions or as sporadic as before. That’s all.

Maybe they removed 10min :upside_down_face:

Well, up to 552 and I was already being dropped by the front two groups before…. Seems that I won’t be racing for the foreseeable!
