19 out of 47 who dont finish a race. That is a lot … 40% of riders not finishing a race should raise some concerns at Zwift …
Till ZRS 2.0 comes out. Ask how long before they change the CE limits. They never did.
Oh they did change the CE limits, from 20mins to ~60mins! ![]()
Right now it’s pretty easy to win without a bump to seed score.
Isolate the pack into a breakaway with the higher cats. The breakaways usually can pull away from the peloton because they consist of riders from a strong cat. In the last 5 mins, go for a long range attack. Not using peak 30s power but use high 1 min power to breakaway and ride near zMAP. This will give you a soft 30s power and not push your 10 min power up.
If you fail to breakaway and the group respond to your attack, stop attacking and draft them. They likely will give up shortly. Repeat attack once again if they slow.
Meta to win without raising base seed score.
How long do they have to wait for you to subscribe? ![]()

I do like the idea of testing more discrimination on race entry. It’s way better than logging in and seeing 10 event options in the hour and not knowing what will be popular.
Or go full MMO and have a race builder where someone can view options or create a race themselves - it has a time to fill up or min/max. They free ride until it starts
Regarding “strength of field” - any calculation is going to be undermined if you seed badly. A lot of people averaged over old CE limits so the low scores seem like people trying to race up… and getting pushed lower
I did have a look earlier.
26th Sept ZRS score was 853. I’m not sure if that was Seed of Floor these days!
Only checked last 10 races. Moved from 863 to 904 so an average of just 4 per race.
Largest move +8 coming first in a field of 12.
1 x lose of 2 points
1 x no movement
2 x gain of 1 point
gotta get that anti tanking in place then
I’m not sure what the other field sizes were, but maybe the field size is why the others were less? Was there any pattern you found? My theory is perhaps they tend to ride in a timezone with lower turnout so in general lower scores maybe?
Same race as above just whacky numbers all over. Pretty sure if you survived to the sprint a 528 floor is about 200 off…
ZRS went live on October 7th. So the score you had that day was your seed.
We’ve got Herd Beginner Races with
E 0-100
D 100-170
C 170-240
B 240-320
A 320-425.
In choosing those limits having them different than the default categories was a consideration, along with how many riders we were getting per category with the last limits.
At least their seed puts them out of the 350-520 group. With a 20min power of 340w, 4.35w/kg that would be a bit high for the 350-520 group ![]()
Though they are still cat B in CE.
He’s very beatable but doesn’t race when others do. He would be pack fodder in the majority of populated A races.
So it’s probably good he doesn’t get score inflation from solo wins… but people are not getting score inflation for the bigger race wins either
I don‘t know, what you had in mind: The new system is today nuts. For example: i was always between c (normally) and b (on my top niveau). Promoted up to B, after some time finishing always in the middle of the field - not worse, but no chances for podium. And my point is: The fields were homogeneous (relativly). No you are racing in the same pack with C‘s, B‘s and A‘s. This does make no sense: If your average 20 Min is 3,4 - you can‘t compete with those, who have 4.0 and better. There must be a solution. And sandbagging is much easier today (i tried it today and it was fine: Do a race with a bigger pack and have a nice ride and enjoy the virtual nature.
The basic idea of ZRS is good, but we need more boundaries, actually it does not make fun
Looks like the system caught on to ‘losing on purpose’.
? yeah they did. regularly, for about 1.5 years after release
Did they? I remember the CE lines was pretty static. If it was changing all the time people couldn’t have sandbag.
They changed the zMAP limit in June last year, and changed it from a 60 day to 90 day window.
I don’t think the zFTP limit ever changed
