Why do I have to improve in order to rank down?

Yep, reasonable.

So million dollar question, based on feedback in this thread, social media and various other places - Is there any consideration being given to reviewing the boundaries and previously made changes?

The top end of B seems to have become an even bigger wild west of riders due to these changes.

Also to reiterate, a form of removing or Asterix over performance where it is significant but been allowed by CE is probably appropriate. Just ignoring it, supports the argument that zwift tolerate sandbagging.

We don’t have any plans to update the Category Enforcement model with Results Based significantly developed within our pipeline.

The amount of additional confusion it would cause would have an impact on too many every day Zwifters and subsequently our support teams.

I’m probably just misunderstanding something, but I was told that a results based categorisation system would be launched within a couple of months?

I don’t have exact timelines, but it’s not far off.

@xflintx this post reminds me that we may not have seen one of your very useful Competition and AI Tech updates since December.

Is there any chance you might consider reintroducing a monthly or every other month update?

Competition & AI Tech Update: December 2022

Will results-based do a lookback more than 60 days? Otherwise same kinds of issues?

90, I think.

Just remember a results based system can’t work without a good CE system.

CE is the foundation of a result based system.

With CE there no need for DQ to deter people from entering the same category again, if they over perform they will not be allowed in the same category so the system will force them up if they want to or not.

Probably should be even longer (120 days) otherwise you will have riders winning a load, ranking up not liking not winning and then not racing until the rank drops as results expire, then race again.

You can already see this in the tiny races with a prolific C winner who went B, tried the races once as a B, lost and then disappeared for 60 days, came back with 3 straight wins as a C again.

Probably has a secondary account to continue to race on… (or a junior account).

A good CE system… always good when zwift bring new releases to the table… Can’t wait

To Results Ranking there is no days to look back…you get your based rating from some Power formula and your ranking move with your Results…if you improve your power by more than XX% your ranking is moved up., etc.

What do you think should happen after 90day period?

my 2c: I would say ranking should start to decay like what happens with your CTL if you don’t train. But the ranking will only decay to a point where it is relative to your CE level based on your Zwift free rides and workouts.

But most riders that miss 90 days on Zwift are riding outside…maybe they get back stronger but there ranking is droping?

IMO ranking shouldn’t change during this period until the next race…it should change with racing or you could be removed from Ranking if you are not active for more than 90days, etc.

Ranking shouldn’t need to time out at all really. If you perform better or worse after time away, the ranking should just adjust quicker. It all depends which approach of the many available they have gone for…

this is all that was asked for at the time, nothing else

And yet another thread by users pointing out the current cat system is broken…

Very likely those power numbers are more than 60 days old.

At most they are 90 days old - Would a 5.4wkg 20min rider lose that amount of fitness in the potential 30 day window? (Is there that much difference between the effort being 59 days ago, or 61 days ago?)

At some point, the penny needs to drop its broken. Multiple attempts to fix things have made things worse, this current change was a conscious change to improve the A experience and its backfired on B.
