Smart Trainer or Zwift Ride with KICKR Core

Hi,

I’ve been using Zwift for a couple of years now. I’m not a cyclist but enjoy the workout plans and may get into racing if/when I have better equipment.

I currently use a Schwinn 800IC spin bike which has good connectivity to Zwift but I have to manually adjust the resistance to achieve the correct Watt output after reaching the instructed cadence.

I would like to upgrade my setup so resistance is set automatically for me (ERG) during workouts and also to enable me to enjoy realistic route rides and races.

So far, I have looked at the Zwift Ride combo (£1100) and both the Wattbike Atom and Kickr Shift (approx. £2200 each). Can I ask what people think of these options, or others, for me?

I am happy to spend £2200 if it gives me a better / easier experience but there is one other small factor. My wife uses the Shwinn with Peloton digital. Having 2 bikes is an option but would be nice to sell the Scwinn if the new setup could be used with Peloton. I’m aware the Zwift combo will not be suitable for anything other than Zwift but it seams that smart bikes could be used, albeit with gears rather than setting resistance - there is very little info on this online so would be interested if anyone has experienced with this.

Thanks

Steve

Hi @Steve_Robinson5, welcome to the forums! I’m Jose from Zwift.

We appreciate your enthusiasm for our products, and we understand you may have several questions, like the ones mentioned earlier in this thread. I want to highlight a few important points regarding the Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE. Instead of using two bikes, you can use just the Zwift Ride, as its measurements can be configured and adapted for both you and your wife—unless you plan to use them at the same time. Additionally, you’ll be able to enjoy the virtual shifting we offer.

I hope another Zwifter can also share their experiences with you to provide even more information.

For further details about our Zwift Ride, I’m sharing this article with you.
