This has fixed it. Thanks a lot!
My pleasure
Hello,
I am the owner of a Samsung Tablet A6 10.1 (SM-T580) 2016.
When I tried to install zwift from playstore, zwift was not shown to me for installation.
Since Android 8 was installed on the tablet, I thought maybe it was because of the Android version. Unfortunately, there are no official newer Android versions for this old Samsung tablet.
So I installed a custom Android 10 rom, and bingo Zwift was found in the playstore. So I installed Zwift and found it runs with the custom stock rom on the old tablet SM-T580.
Since you can destroy the tablet by installing the custom rom, you should only do it at your own risk or by someone who knows.
How does it run? I would imagine on a busy screen it’ll be a bit juddery.
A little bit at the start. Apart from that, it runs pretty smoothly, which I wouldn’t have thought. For me it is absolutely sufficient
That’s a great result then and well done for your ingenuity.
Hi Frank, which ROM have you installed? I have tried crdroid 8.1 (Android 12) with Nikgapps full, and neither is Zwift found in the Playstore, nor can it be run without crashing as APKX installation (using APKPure).
In general the system works like charm.
Hello folks, I’m interested on the ROM name and version too. Let me know
Lineage os 17.1 20220122-UNOFFICIAL-gtaxlwifi , OpenGapps arm64-10.0-mini-20220215. Zwift Version 100427 (current version found in Playstore).
It works!
Fps is really low, in big groups down to 2 fps, riding alone up to 10 fps at best. It might well serve for training plans/workouts, less for big group rides.
Anyway, thanks for the pro tip with Android 10!
P.S. Using a Galaxy Tab A6 10.1 2016 sm-t580 wifi
P.S. Also works with Lineage os 18.1 20220122 UNOFFICIAL gtaxlwifi
10fps is shocking let alone 2.
I guess there is a reason why officially it is not supported ;D
Still usable for doing a workout up the Alpe or on other rarely used courses. Depending on the view fps changes.
This is an old topic, but if I found it, my post might be helpful to someone else.
Zwift can not be installed on Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2019) T-590/T-595, because it requires Arm64-v8a ABI, but Samsung been a jerk and didn’t include support for the Arm64-v8a into the firmware, in spite of the perfectly capable hardware.
So the only way to use the tablet for Zwift seems to be installing a custom firmware with Arm64 support, like LineageOS. I haven’t tried it myself (and will probably never try and use laptop instead), and while Zwift definitely will run, performance may be sub-optimal
That’s been covered a few posts above.
The Tab A had been superseded now so i would imagine most people have moved on and upgraded.
There could be legacy users who may holding on to that elusive glimmer of hope.
Ha, the Tab A replaced by the A7 which was replaced by the A8 which has now been replaced by the A9.
I think it’s fair to say it’ll never happen.
